Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

Place
Brandy's favorite place to go is the place that broke his heart.
It's a little cafe that sells coffee, pizza, and pastries; the smells always bring back this familiar sense of freedom that Brandy just can't seem to touch. It's there, but out of his grasp all the same; here is where he met his old love, back when he was rather young. He remembers the moments like they happened yesterday- the time they met, to the time they drifted apart.
Put simply, Brandy was being used. While he had been at the shelter, he got adopted by one of the staff and was treated as a show cat who was exceptionally well; Alkalie told Brandy his collar had tracking on it so their owners knew where they were at all times, and therefore took it upon himself to be able to travel. Coming from a cattery and kennel that was quite of good standing and wealth, everyone in the small village knew who he was and treated him kindly. When a new cat came in he immediately pined after Brandy, finding his innocence and good hearted nature something he could use; Brandy, being naive, fell right into the trap.
He broke off the relationship after finding this out.

Now, Brandy's favorite place is that cafe; why? He's always asked why, and his answer remains the same. The cafe is where he changed, where Brandy truly found himself. Brandy is now independent, realizing his worth of character was better than whatever money or status he had; he began to surround himself with people who truly cared about him, such as Alkalie and Bismuth. Brandy likes returning to this place now, dubbing it a favorite because of the change it brought on. It reminds him of what he very well could have been, and what he is now; and that no matter what, each day he can become better, and that while things may look glum they will eventually get better. He goes there to reminisce and think about memories, using the place for good instead of the bad place it once used to be.

Brandy's name is almost the opposite of who he actually is. A kind natured, good hearted cat- this is the type of feline who you'd see volunteering his time somewhere. Brandy is very independent but uses this to his advantage by helping everyone out as much as he can. He's confident in himself and is a leader, often taking charge of situations and giving requests for what people need to do if he's working on a project. While he is privileged, he uses his power to help others; no one will go unhelped under his watch. He's one heck of a strong character, so don't think you'll be able to beat this guy in a battle of wills. If he sees someone mistreating another person-especially if it is a matter of social status-Brandy will not hesitate to call them out and check them into their place. Not to say he won't give someone an extra scoop of food at the soup kitchen, but he's not one to be pushed over.

Most importantly, Brandy works on the notion of 'love yourself and everything else will be okay' and therefore no longer does anything to please other people; he is who he is, and he won't change just to make someone else like him more. The person he has to please the most is himself, and after a long struggling time of trying to learn how to de-stress, Brandy is now calm and collected and almost never aggravated except for when privileged is abused in his line of sight. He's honest and trustworthy, responsible, and feels mistakes are necessary; sometimes to the point he purposely makes them, in order to learn better. He is a good mentor and loves helping others, teaching them good morals and virtues while helping others learn from his mistakes. Brandy holds almost no grudges and is exceptionally optimistic.

After he changed
Once Brandy changed from the innocent, naive cat he used to be, he made it a personal mission to see his siblings and show them how he has changed, not only in hopes of helping them become better but to put his mind at ease. Somehow or other, he managed to find out where every one of his respective siblings live or have lived, and over time he has managed to travel to each location and speak with each sibling.
While he's interested in them all, he only keeps in touch with a few. Those who he feels that are too stubborn or out of his help he keeps in contact less frequently- not to say he doesn't like them, but he feels it is better to help those who want help first before moving onto harder siblings.
Once Brandy changed his own previous mindset, he found himself in a better situation- he got 'adopted' by Alkalie and Bismuth. It wasn't anything official, but Alkalie treats him as a son and Brandy looks up to Alkalie and enjoys spending company with both him and Bismuth. They all get along stunningly well and the two 'parents' look out for Brandy and will not hesitate to help him if he ever needed anything. In this way, Brandy started over 'new' and feels that this- this is his family, and where he belongs: with other felines who support and love him in the same way he does to them. They all rely on each other quite a bit, and now it is hard to find one of them without another when they're all home.
