☼ What Kind of Ruler Would They Be: Kai's the most awkward thing that he can possibly be, so his ability to rule would be determined by how many chances he has to muck it up. In terms of diplomacy, he can't keep his words tamed, so he's quite prone to saying some strangely-phrased offers and negotiations to keep the peace... that might lead to a dispute over a little miscommunication. At the same time, he might also be able to charm the other party and those that he leads and represents, because he's grown used to his own blunders and turning them around to at least get some positive reactions out of it, usually by flashing a little smile and giving an apologetic joke.

A good leader knows how to motivate his followers and plan ahead. Kai might not be the best communicator, but he can strike a good pose and come up with fantastic plans... it's just a matter of getting those plans out of his head and into the minds of those who need to execute them. He motivates others with the results... after all, who dares naysay someone who can bring in a rich haul in one go, be it food, currency, or a negotiation that benefits everyone? He works hard to earn and keep the trust he's given, and that makes the bond between himself and those he interacts with so much stronger -- another powerful tool of a great leader.

Where he lacks in confidence, thanks to his poor communication skills, Kai excels in integrity. He's honest to a (brutally inelegant) fault, and is as transparent as glass - or, perhaps, he's just completely and utterly unable to hold a poker face to hide secret agendas or motives. Either way, he is rarely, if ever, caught in a lie simply because he just refuses to tell them -- what's the point, if it's going to be so obvious, after all?

Kai has some focus -- but it tends to be in the odder places. In times where food is thin, for example, he may worry instead about water, which might help grow food, but does not immediately work to solve the problem of where the food that is needed right away is going to come from. Where it makes sense in the long run, it is hardly an intelligent move in the short term.

A good leader is also a restless one, and this is perhaps one of Kai's strengths. He's never satisfied with one win, he has to be able to bring in five. In a row. Maybe this time, without flubbing, or with only one trip, or maybe he can win over a larger audience in day-to-day debates within a set time period. Maybe he can win enough negotiations to increase his homestead by fifty percent, build a better place for him and his own. Nothing he does is ever that big "finale", because there's always some way he can top it, make it better, cut his losses and multiply his gains.

What Kind of Ruler Would They Be:
Although Carab would sometimes struggle with the power, responsibility and pressure of being a ruler or king, he would always try his absolute best to be fair, just and do what he believes is right and in the best interests of his people.

Admittedly, of course Carab would make mistakes, he’s mortal, and prone, as everyone is, to feeling emotion, making snap decisions, having slight bias in a particular situation, having his own morals and sometimes doing things that don’t seem right, but he would absolutely always strive to try and be as good as he could, and do the best job he can, and at the end of the day, that is all you could ask for.

Carab would always consult those around him for guidance in his decisions and path, taking everyone’s views into account and trying to use them to his advantage, to make the best, most informed decision. He wouldn’t be one of those rulers who made every decision on his own: he sees the importance of other’s opinions and their experiences, training, knowledge and expertise and sees how it would be valuable. He would never try to manipulate anybody into acting a certain way either, such as making a particular public statement, as he understands the importance of a variety of views, as it is fair and creates good debate, even if he doesn’t necessarily agree with the views or principles himself.

Carab can sometimes be slightly narrow minded; he does admittedly sometimes act in his own interests, and occasionally fails to see the bigger picture, and this is one of his main flaws, along with making snap decisions, as he is a tad impatient. He despises overanalysing things, and looking at the details of something, which is when his advisors often have to step in and encourage him to slow down, helping him to see things from a wider perspective. Thankfully for Carab, he is rather inexperienced so hopefully, with time will come patience.

There is also a perception that with time, comes wisdom and experience, but in Carab’s case, this isn’t true. He’s incredibly intelligent, and knowledgable, as any leader should be, and enjoys reading up on a wide variety of subjects, including things like astronomy, physics and politics. As for experiences, despite Carab’s youth, he’s been through an awful lot in his life, and he would combine all this knowledge and experience and apply it in whatever way he can to making him a better ruler.

Another of Carab’s flaws is his pride. He’ll often make certain decisions to protect his pride and this can have a negative impact on his ruling. However as time goes on, he is actually starting to care less and less about his pride and how he views himself, and more about how people view him as a ruler, and if they like the path and routes he is taking.

Overall, Carab would always strive to be a fair, good leader, to the best of his ability.

Monologue - Carab's opinion and thoughts on his position as ruler.

"Being a King, or ruler, is a concept I’ve always struggled with. Ever since my father passed on the title to me, it’s been a daily battle, and one I can’t always say I’ve enjoyed. The constant pressure to do your best, the sleepless nights, the early mornings, the long journeys and the constant analysing has made this job one of the hardest in the world. Yet at the same time, I still find myself loving it. I still wake up every day, with a passion and drive to do my best, and what I think is right, even when the decision that has to be made isn’t always the easiest or the most obvious.

I’ve always said that it’s the struggles that keep you going. It’s proving to yourself, and your doubters that you can do it, and that what you decided was indeed the best thing. Many people have doubted me throughout my life, and although sometimes I’ve believed, them, thought, “Was I actually thinking straight?” or “Did I actually make the best decision?”, when it’s truly mattered, I’ve always proved them wrong, and that restores your faith in yourself, your own self confidence, and when you’re trying to make some of the most important decisions in the world, that is so incredibly important.

Of course, being a ruler isn’t all hard work, there are plenty of privileges that come along with the hardships. I must admit, when I get announced as “King Carab” at an event or diner or anything along those lines, I still smile on the inside. It’s a funny thing, being a king, a very odd concept, yet somehow, it works. I think the fact that I allow so many people to help me in so many ways of my life, people accept it, although admittedly, there’s no way I’d be able to function properly, or do my job to my best ability.

Overall, I’d say I like being a ruler. It’s challenging, yes, but also so incredibly rewarding. Seeing the difference that I get to make to so many peoples lives, make them better, easier, more fulfilling, helping the most vulnerable people in society, that is exactly why I do it. Seeing their smiling, happy faces as they see me, the cheering, as they approve of what I do. It makes all the struggles, all the pain, everything, every single bit, worth it. They are my people, and I’ll forever do what they want, need, I’ll try to make their dreams come true, their wishes succeed, their goals happen and their lives be as fulfilling and happy as they can. "

What Kind of Ruler Would They Be: Ki would be a quiet ruler. He wouldn't want to rule anyone, but if it meant he kept his people safe, he'd do whatever he could. He would do anything to protect his people, but his lack of confidence and self-esteem is always making it difficult. Everyone knows he'd die for any kalon in a heartbeat, but he lacks to confidence to voice his fierce loyalty and protectiveness. Everyone likes to call him "Mama Bear" because he's so independent and loyal. As a ruler, he would turn to what the people want first. He wouldn't roll around in the glory of ruling anyone, he would hold his people higher than he holds himself. He would insist on being treated the same as everyone else, no better, no worse. He would look to his people for advice and he'd only do what they want.

What Kind of Ruler Would They Be:
If Jasmin was a queen, she’d be a strategic ruler. Never one to make hasty and ill-informed choices, she thinks things through before choosing her course of action. This would be her greatest strength, and it is not often found in many rulers, great or not. Even through many have a desire for action and conflict, Jasmin knows it’s best to wait and see what will come of something. Oftentimes, it’s easier to solve a problem after some time to clear your head and more information.
Another good quality of hers is her just ruling style. Though she’s not stone cold, she knows when to switch her emotions to “off,” in order to make the best decision for her and her people. Even if the fate of a criminal is in her hands, she is trusted to make the right decision as payment for their crime, no matter who they are. Even though she’s a straight arrow, she’s also pretty merciful, believing people can change if they truly want to. She’ll always offer a second chance, though that shouldn’t be mistaken for a lack of punishment. Often she’ll assign community service and other character-building activities to have the criminal see they truly can be better.
A third good quality she uses when she rules is her ability to negotiate. She’ll always be able to come up with some sort of compromise, some deal, for both her and her neighboring countries to get what they need. Starting with a big list of things she needs, she and the other leader will narrow their lists down until they reach an agreement which benefits both countries. Jasmin is quite persuasive, oftentimes getting the better end of the deal. Part of her stellar diplomatic skills come from the fact that she is a respected queen.
Unfortunately, Jasmin, like anybody else, isn’t perfect. One of her lesser traits is that she strives for perfection, and tries to achieve it herself. Unlike a skilled leader, she attempts to do everything herself, instead of employing experts in the field to put their mastery of the subject to the test. When confronted with this advice, she simply says, “I’m working on it,” and goes back to her old habits. While Jasmin certainly does want to fix her faults, she has a pie in the sky idea that if she could be good at everything, then she’d prove everyone wrong.
Another trait Jasmin is not proud of is the tendency to focus on the smaller things instead of the big picture. Often this leads to the problem not fully being solved, and there is nothing she hates more than doing something wrong. But somehow, she can’t seem to make herself focus on the big picture. Maybe it has to do with her perfectionist nature... Perhaps we’ll never know. But what we do know is that Jasmin would be a decent and just queen, and even through her faults and errors, she’ll always want the very best for her people.
