History of the Scars:
Not all scars have courageous stories and exciting tales attached. They are not always connected to heroism or battles or anything worth becoming a proud story to tell. Some scars, after all, serve only as memories of one who had not done well enough. Kaelin was one of the unlucky few to cower under the shadow of a mentor who certainly did not want him, and it was a fact made known as often as possible. Studying under one who was supposed to heal, Kaelin was an apprentice of medicine - he enjoyed the idea of the job well enough, of how he could help and heal others - and was an incredibly quick learner. However, his mentor found his flaws as if Kaelin flaunted them, and each flaw came with a swift strike from a clawed paw. After so many endurance's of such correction, the strikes began to stick, and eventually Kaelin found he had little reminders of his failures to keep forever. Eventually, under the cloak of night, Kaelin managed to sneak his way out of the camp. Facing the snowy tundra, he did his best to learn how to survive on his own, although he ran into some issues...
How he lost his eye:
Upon his time in the tundra, Kaelin quickly found he no longer had the vital access to medicines and herbs that he once did. Because of this, many of his fresher scratches had started to become infected and dangerous - the worst of which being his right eye. He struggled to keep it as healthy as he possibly could for a incredibly long time, although he soon found it was near impossible to keep track of it when he still had to worry about finding food and further shelter. Eventually performing a quick surgery on himself in order to keep the infection from spreading, Kaelin managed to stop it in it's tracks and prevent it from worsening. Although he couldn't stop his ear from contracting some of the worst of it, the rest of his face and body was now safe. Luckily, he had also managed to find old cloth where a campsite once was, and he securely bandaged and made sure he took the time to take care of his eye and ear. Sore and scared, he seeked shelter and that was where he was found - shivering, shaken, and hurt, he was hesitant to be taken away, but was soon encouraged by the strange creatures who took care of him. Still nervous, however, he is very careful not to let anyone remove the bandages from his face, although he is unsure if such an act would be possible.
