Rescued from the event.
For aray17"This filly is young, and very timid. She is covered in deep scars, which we assume are from a mountain lion attack. She looks to be only about 3 years old. She has calmed down in the company of our volunteers, she knows she's safe. But she won't ever be a show horse. She goes crazy once she's any more than 5 feet away from another Walker, probably because of her attack. She feels helpless when not surrounded by a protective group. She can't walk that well either. We think because of deep scars on her legs, the cuts must have injured her muscles, it's a wonder she survived. But her limp doesn't impair her from living a normal life. It just takes her longer. She'd probably be best suited as a companion horse, but she might be able to handle a child on her back for a short time, too. But be prepared, the little filly is a love bug."

I sent in my application to rescue a Sveldala Walking Equine and had a long wait before I heard back. They had just rescued a mare who was attacked by a mountain lion and had separation anxiety. I loaded up my two Walkers into my trailer and took them with me to greet our new buddy. Dale and Alani were both really excited to greet their new friend. When we arrived, the volunteers walked me over to her. Dale popped his head out of the trailer to greet her. She shied away from him at first but eventually warmed up to him. I unloaded Dale and Alani so they could greet their shy friend and Kalila warmed up instantly. Her eyes glowed with confidence and happiness. I could tell that Dale had an instant crush on Kalila by the way he wrapped his tail around her and wouldn't let her out of his sight. After I finished filling out the rest of the paperwork, I loaded my babies back into the trailer and Dale snuggled up close to Kalila. She looked so content and my player finally found his girl to be protective over. When we arrived back at my ranch, I unloaded them and took Kalila to the washing station since she hadn't had a bath in probably weeks. When she was split up from Dale, she instantly started to get frantic and cry out. So, I rushed over to get Dale from his stall so she would have a wash buddy. He supported her body weight since he noticed her limping. He really cares about her and wants to make sure she is safe. (276 words)

To treat Kalila's limp, I am a physical therapist for both humans and equines so I spend a lot of my hours each day exercising her. We take it slow and steady, just enough exercise and rehabilitation to get her muscles back to normal. She doesn't have a problem with people touching her scars so I try to loosen up her joints by massaging them thoroughly. I am also a homeopathic doctor so inn addition to physical treatment, I give her natural pain remedies to ease her pain. I give her low dosages as to prevent her from becoming dependent on the medications. When Kalila is limping badly, Dale tries to help carry her body weight and get her back to her stall. They have a conjoined stall that dividers can be inserted into when needed. This is a part of her mental therapy treatment. We keep Dale around her all the time. During her physical therapy, Dale stays close by and often trots or walks alongside her. (168 words)

Since Kalila cannot be a show horse or go on trail rides, she spends most of her time watching Dale train. He is a very good show equine and I spend a lot of time training him. I place her in a little fenced section of the arena so she can be near Dale while he trains. They eat together and are inseparable. They have matching horse blankets and love twinning. Dale always wraps his tail around her and keeps her close. Due to her constant physical therapy, she can now walk better and get up to a mild gallop without pain. I have weaned her off of the pain remedy, but I still have to constantly stretch and massage her legs. She also spends time with my other equine, Alani. Alani is a loner but does like to lay in the shade with Kalila when Dale is at his horse shows. As for riding, I don't have a lot of little kids come train with me in my SWE branch of my ranch, so I have not tried having a little child ride her. With her patience and caring side, she would make a good equine for young kids but I think she enjoys her life as a companion. Since rescuing her, she has become less shy and her love bug side has become her full persona.

Up For Re-Adoption Per Owner Request
This beauty is up for re-adoption due to their current owner not having the time and wanting to see them get some love from a new owner <3 To win them, simply fill out the readoption form and write up a little personality description. Their show name and barn name will need to be different from the original, but their gender and halter color has to stay the same. A winner will be picked by either I or Aray17 based on the most suiting personality development.

Personality (10-50 Words):
Even though a simple shadow could set her off, she loves to run with the other SWEs of her herd, even with her limp. Past the face of fear, she is truly stubborn and can be very competitive. Eden will push herself to show she isn’t held back by injuries.

Show Name: A Phoenix on Fire
Barn Name: Phoenix
Gender: Mare
Personality (10-50 Words):
Phoenix is a fighter just like her name suggests, one to never give up and never give in. This isn’t always best for her though as there are times where she needs to let others take the lead and often pushes others away before of this.

Did you forget me so soon?
The one who made you,
turned you into this monster?
How sad.
Though I guess it's to be expected,
you always liked to block things out.
If it didn't make sense in your mind,
you just forgot about it.
But maybe it's because I didn't,
make you into a monster that is.
You already were a monster,
weren't you? ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦
