Rescued from the event.
For DarkestWerewolf"This stallion has been tossed around to several different owners. He comes from good lines and was originally bought illegally by a rich family whose daughter only wanted him because he was "pretty", despite him being a horse for advanced riders, which their daughter was not. Soon, his prettiness wore off, and the girl was too scared to ride him because he was so spirited. Then he went to several different owners, all who followed the trend of buying him illegally. He was cared for well, despite going through several different homes. All bought him for the same reasons and sold him for the same reasons. He hasn't been ridden much over the past few years, and he will need someone advanced to reteach him. He has no obvious health issues, but he does get very uneasy around crowds, so he wouldn't be a good show horse."

Finding trust:
I drove the trailer right up to the barn where there was a mass rehoming of SWEs rescued from a slaughterhouse. A particular stallion had caught my attention and today was the day I brought him home. He was kept alone in a pen further from where the other SWEs were because he had issues with big crowds. I went up to him and let him sniff my hands before I fed him an apple and stroked him.
Apparently, he was too spirited to be ridden and hence was often sold from owner to owner illegally. I headed to sign the papers and after managed to get him into the trailer with gentle coaxing and a few apples. I drove back to the barn and led him to the pasture. He was my first ever SWE and the entire place was all to him for now. For the next few days, he started to settle down and become more accustomed to me. It took a while but it wasn't too challenging as he is familiar with humans, having gone through so many. He only hasn't fully bonded and trusted one. Everyday I would let him out to the pasture and let him run free, I will stand by the sides, sometimes with carrots or apples. It is always his choice whether he wants to approach me or not. Exodus did interact with me and would allow me to touch him and groom him. He did grow to trust me over time so that was a step in progress.

Medical Care:
A few weeks after Exodus first came, it was time for a check up. Despite being well taken care of and coming from a background with good lines, I was still concerned of whether he will have any issues with his health. The vet soon arrived and Exodus was already in his stall. He did have a few cuts around his leg from when we got him but other than that, there wasnt much. The check-up was quick and smooth-sailing. The vet found no serious issues with him and we were to go to the clinic for a more thorough check-up the next day. He applied some medicine on the cuts and left.
The next day, we headed there and had the check-up done. The results came in a week after and the vet himself was pleasantly surprised as well. Exodus was quite a healthy stallion and had no signs of illnesses whatsoever. I was relieved and happy at the same time. Looks like he's quite a healthy and happy boy.

General rehabilitation:
With no health issues to worry about, Exodus was given the green light to start his rehabilitation. He was good enough to be ridden without me being bucked off or him having any particular issues as well. With him being claimed as too spirited, it was time for me to see for myself. I mounted him and headed off on a trail ride. He was quite the energetic one. His strides were big and went into a canter on his own. The trail ride didn't last long since he zipped through it rather quickly. I ride him towards a dirt track for racing near the stable and tested him out. Exodus was most definitely full of spirit and had a wild side of him. Most certainly not a horse for beginners. Nonetheless, he was quite an excellent racing horse. However, as said when I got him, he doesn't do well in crowds and won't perform in front of one.
It was a shame but I wanted what's best for him so he won't be a competition horse. With so much energy and spirit bursting from him, he would need to learn how to be ridden properly again. I'm confident that's with time and patience, Exodus will be an amazing horse, one that would make a great companion.
