Name of Lykaio: Inugami
A story about a Japanese yokai: The small cat wandered uncertainly towards the beach. The sky was dark, ominously so, and it seemed as if a storm was brewing. The sea pounded ruthlessly against the tossed-up sand. In fact, it seemed the sand had been disarranged in some sort of frenzy; what had happened? The little cat wandered closer to examine, but stopped suddenly as she heard a voice. "Hey, I wouldn't go there if I was you!" The cat turned around, tail spiked up like a bottle-brush. Nobody was there. A strange flash of imagination, a mishearing of the howling gusts of wind; it must have been something different. The beach was completely deserted, after all. And the wind was really picking up, whipping the cat's fur back and forth as it rapidly changed directions. Folding her ears back, she decided to finish up her leisurely beach walk very, very quickly, then get home. She paced up and down the rather small strip of sand, and eventually found herself back at the turbulent sand. And it truly was turbulent; it had, in fact, turned into a miniature tornado of wet sand. As the cat stepped closer to investigate, the sand arranged itself swiftly into a ball of muck and flung itself directly at the cat's face. She hissed as the grains of sand struck her, getting in her eyes and ears. Suddenly, the heavens opened up, and the storm finally broke. Rain poured down in sudden, violent sheets on the cat, and she turned and sprinted for home. As soon as she was out of sight, the sand smoothed itself out, and a figure materialized, double tail flicking, red eyes gleaming with playful menace. "I did tell her not to go here," they said, and turned and dove into the water. The last thing was the swish of a double tail and a light laugh that echoed through the storm-tossed sea
