Hah, I love food and thanksgiving, so have some turkey alternative visclings ;0c I'm not really looking for a huge comp, so I just wanted to do a simple team raffle! To enter, partner up with a couple buddies and post with links to your partner's form. This will be a conjoined raffle to keep things simple, so you must have those partners! All or nothing, but in the event that a good amount of effort is shown when gaining extra tickets for a certain team that didn't win, I may reward RUs.

relationship with siblings: Phoenix is very close to his siblings. He couldn't explain why he feels so close to his brother and sister, but he has always viewed Riley as more of the dominant sibling, and will typically be the one he goes to to speak for him due to him viewing his elder brother as the more dominant sibling. He knows Riley will understand him more even without him really even speaking, which means a great deal to Phoenix. However, he couldn't say that he's closer to one sibling over the other because he depends on both of his sibling's support. When it comes to Trinity, he knows she is anything but a girly girl, but he also knows that she is scared over a lot of things, and will usually try to be a support system for her, so she knows she at least has someone there for her. Whereas he will talk to Riley just about anything, but he will talk to Trinity about things that are a little more sensitive, which he doesn't usually talk to Riley about, but every now and then will. Without his siblings Phoenix would honestly be lost. If he ever lost one of his siblings or if there was some situation that divided the trio, leaving Phoenix in the middle forced to choose sides he would be destroyed. He simply would not know what to do because he relies so heavily on both siblings, never more one than the other, but equally.

relationship with adoptive parents: Phoenix is a slightly difficult book to explain. He hasn't known any other parents besides Faye and Caspian, not has he known any other siblings besides Trinity and Riley, yet his relationship with Faye and Caspian is quite different from that of his siblings. Although he'll willingly and openly tell you that he loves and cares about Faye and Caspian, he doesn't actually interact with them very often. Faye will certainly try to bond close with Phoenix by trying to engage in playing with him or doing activities that she find that he particularly enjoys, but at the end of the day she feels like she has no success in bonding with Phoenix and that he simply does not like her, which shatters her heart. Although, that is not the case as Phoenix greatly appreciates Faye's attempts to bond with him, which do work, he just doesn't quite feel so comfortable yet to were he can openly talk to her. His relationship with Caspian is slightly similar, except Phoenix does not see not feel as if Caspian tries very hard to get him to open up and to get closer with him, so his relationship with Caspian isn't ideal as he feels perfectly fine with not talking to him, therefore in a sense he is closer to Faye, yet he's not nearly as close to her as he is to Trinity and Riley whom he will 75% of the time have them speak to Faye for him, and 90% of the time he has them speak to Caspian for him.

Do they celebrate thanksgiving and why/why not:
Why yes, of course they celebrate the great feasting holiday called Thanksgiving! It's always been a traditional for the family to go all out on Thanksgiving. Though they love showing how much the appreciate each other, the trio absolutely adores all of the delicious smells and tastes on this special day. They sometimes prepare recipes a month in advance to figure out what they want to make. Their whole dinner takes a lot of preparation, time, and pie but it's worth it to Faye and Caspian when they get to see Trinity, Pheonix, and Riley's joyful expressions and all the endless love coming from the three. In this Viscet family, everyone helps out and has a job! Trinity stands by her opinion that Riley does not get to make the pie alone , "Because he will just eat it as soon as it cools off!" Faye and Caspian alway handle the turkey and the more complex things, while they let the trio go and do the easier things. Every year they look forward to when they finally get the turkey, stuffing (Phoenix says "yum!"), gravy, sweet potatoes, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce (Trinity's absolute favorite.) they get to stuff themselves with, and they won't even be judged for how much they are eating. The pumpkin, apple, chocolate fudge, coconut cream, and even lemon meringue pie for dessert finishes off their big dinner. None of the other families that see their meal can even comprehend just how they fit that much pie in after eating that big of a dinner. They do it though- but they do have leftovers. Pie for weeks! Or probably more like just a day... Riley especially looks forward to the delicious classic pumpkin pie. Unlike many, every year they also have a whole lot of fun including the breaking of the turkey's wishbone as the final part to their Thanksgiving celebration. After the meat has been devoured and off the bones, they remove the wishbone, and when it has had a chance to become very dry and brittle, they put paper slips with their names on them in a small bowl and randomly draw out two slips. The two drawn get to each take one a single end of the bone, make a wish, and then pull! Trinity thinks that a wish would be very nice to have. What to wish for? Maybe for the scarey spiders to not bother her, a year of not running into things and then falling possibly, or for better weather with no scary thunderstorms. That is why Trinity fights tough with her own winning strategies the times she gets drawn to go. When Riley goes up for the wishbone, thoughts race. What to wish for? More Pie (especially lemon) would be fantastic, but someday getting to fly would be really cool. For things to stay as they are right now forever like they are, him and his family all together would be a very nice wish too. When Pheonix gets the chance to go up and win the wish, he usually has the same thing set in mind. What to wish for? Well for him to eventually get over his overly shyness and to be able to talk to others with ease would be it. Something else he wishes for is for someone that is not family to come along and actually want to befriend him and to try to be his friend without trying to force him to change like everyone else.
The next day isn't fun when they acknowledge the fact that they have a big pile of plates, utensils, pots, pans, and whatnot to wash. It's still a bonding moment for them though, and the trio will end up making it into a game or a nice, friendly competition.

favorite fall treat: *CHOMP* Ahhh. What is thanksgiving without stuffing? It's one of the most thought of Thanksgiving dishes besides the famous Turkey and Pumpkin Pie. It doesn't have to be completely unique and special to be a favorite. Phoenix's favorite thanksgiving food item has a good variety of options, most recipes differ. You have turkey and it is turky. Pumpkin pie is simply pumpkin pie, the variety isn't a whole lot usually. But there are so many types things you can put into stuffing! It doesn't matter if you bite the biggest chomp or the smallest nibble, you'll get an immediate burst of flavor with all the different ingredients put into it. Phoenix loves this stuffing stuff's fluffy texture and the weird look it has. He also feels as if he could relate to the dish as it does in fact play a huge part in the Thanksgiving meal as one of the staples, yet its one of the dishes that is simply just set aside, even if the bundles of flavor that burst from stuffing just seem to tie in perfectly and just fill the hole in your stomach to complete the meal altogether. He also prefers the salty flavor of it over the sweet flavors of his siblings favorite fall dishes, pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce.

short story: "Hey... Riley. Time to get up." A yawn stretched his maw as Riley quickly rolled over in his sleep, a light ringing echoing in his ear. Wait. That wasn't a ringing. Groaning, he cracked open an eye to meet that of his brother. "Phoenix..." He groaned as the other pulled on his ear to wake him more. "Come on Riley... you do remember what day it is... right?" His brothers words really got Riley's curiosity going. Day? What did that matter? Wait, what day was it? He groaned as he rose, stretching out to his full length before turning to face his brother with a raised eyebrow. "Okay. I'm missing something important, aren't I?" Phoenix just shook his head with amusement. "Does thanksgiving ring a bell?" Instantly awake, Riley pulled phoenix closer. "Thanksgiving? ... THANKSGIVING?!!" pushing him away, Phoenix landed with a grunt as Riley suddenly sped by him, ruffling his fur and feathers with excitement as he tried to make himself presentable. Then seeing Phoenix still on the ground rubbing his sore rump he snorted. "What are you sitting down there for? Shake them tail feathers and let's get moving! We can't leave everyone else cold turkey!" He said, rushing toward the exit. Phoenix groaned at the turkey puns, the corner of his mouth turning up in a smile and pushed himself up, following after his brother in a much calmer manner.

"Woooaahh!!!" *Crash!* Faye looked over fondly as she recognized the sound of her eldest sons voice. "Glad to see that you've decided to join us." She said, ruffling Riley's head playfully. "Awe yea! It's going to take more that for me to lose my gizzard."She just smiled wider as Caspian gave a snort from his seat. It was then that Phoenix walked in, taking his seat at the dinner table. Riley quickly took his seat in between Phoenix and Trinity, eyeing all the food on the table with glee. Grabbing his silverware, he looked to his adopted parents with anticipation. Faye laughed at his enthusiasm while Caspian just shook his head. "Easy there butterball." He said, crossing his arms in front of him. "You're forgetting something." He groaned, hitting his face on the table as Trinity giggled at his antics. "Not again..." He muttered through the tablecloth as Phoenix patted his back with pity. "Come on Rye, It's not that bad." Trinity said, looking to her mother who nodded kindly. "She's right Riley. I'll even let you start." "N-no!" He said instantly perking. you see, the absolute worst thing for him to do would be to go first. This had to be one of his least liked family traditions. Every thanksgiving, right before the evening meal, he and his siblings would always have to say one thing that they're thankful for. Back then it was done in hope that they would remember all the good they still had. What makes it hard now is that he has so much good in his life that he never knows what to say. Obviously he can't say everything... that's a bit too generic. That's why he'd rather have somebody else start so he can try to think up something real quick.

Suddenly, Caspian's chuckle broke him from his thoughts. "Come on kiddo. We've got to start sometime." Panic lit him up as he turned to his siblings. Trinity, sensing her brothers panic, smoothly took over. "How about I start. Umm, well I guess I'm thankful for you guys." She turned to where the brothers were watching her, gratitude lighting Riley's eyes and Phoenix ducking his head with an embarrassed blush. Caspian and Faye shared a glance before turning back to the trio. "That was a very good one Trinity." Caspian says as the young viscling perked up. "What are you thankful for?" She asked her adopted father. His brows rose with surprise. "Me?" he asked pointing to himself as Trinity nodded. Riley grinned and clarified, "Yeah pops. What are you thankful for?" "hmm..." He took a moment to ponder before he spoke again. "I'd say you three." The trio of visclings looked surprised at his words. Faye nodded in agreement, taking his paw in her own. "I'd have to agree. You three have brought us quite the adventure. It wouldn't be the same without you." Their surprise quickly turned bashful at their adopted mothers words. Faye gave them all just a minute to prepare before she turned to Phoenix. "How about you Phoenix. What are you thankful for?" He only sat a moment before looking to his siblings with a smile. "I'm thankful for a home where we can gather together as one." Riley knew exactly why he said that. He too felt extremely grateful for the feeling of belonging and comfort that their new home provided. Everyone then turned to Riley. "And then there was one." Faye says jokingly as Trinity rested her paw on his arm. "So Rye, what is it that your thankful for?" He had thought, and thought, and finally he came to a conclusion. "I'm thankful for so many things but there has to be one that stands on the very top." Phoenix's ears pricked with curiosity. "And what's that?" Picking up his fork, Riley said but one thing before breaking out into a grin so wide that it seemed to take up half his face. "Pie."

"I feel like a turkey on thanksgiving." Riley said, looking to his siblings with a content look on his face. Phoenix looked back up before giving him a smile. "Stuffed?" He asked as Riley chuckled. "Yep." He looked back to the table. They still had so much food left over and he already felt like he couldn't eat another bite. "No need to push yourself, Riley dear." Faye says to him from where she had began packing up the food. Trinity stood beside her, holding a container of leftover cranberries which she obviously planned to stash for later. He never understood his sisters obsession with the stuff. Phoenix was obviously amazed and then Riley realized why. "How are you guys still moving?! You ate almost as much as we did and we can't even move! I feel like I have to role to get anywhere!" he said patting his food baby with a fond grin. Trinity rolled her eyes at the two. "Some of us actually have a little restraint." She says, her voice light with amusement. Suddenly Caspian rushed over. "Guess what?" He said, hiding something behind him. Riley looked over to him with curiosity. "What is it, old man?" Caspian's eye twitched with irritation but he let it go for now. Instead, he brought his hand forward, a dried wishbone in his grip. Three pairs of eyes lit up as Faye pulled a hat with five slips of paper in it. "Riley, you get to choose them this year." She said, holding it before the younger male. He looked up with excitement before reaching in and pulling two out. "Trinity and Phoenix." He says, looking to his siblings and crumpling the sheets of paper in his hand.

It was late now as Riley watched the stars from his seat on the grass. He looked over as he could hear the louder steps of Caspian come over. "Mind if I sit?" He asked. Riley gave a silent nod before turning his face back to the sky, closing his eyes to bask in the starlight and to enjoy the peace that came with it. Caspian watched him fondly, a small smile growing as he sat down, resting his arm on his knee and glancing up to the heavens. "I know what you did today." He said, causing Riley to break out of his revere and glance at him curiously. "And what's that?" Riley asked, wondering what his new father spoke about. Caspian just chuckled, his eyes meeting the amber one's of the younger. "With the wishbone. It was your name that was drawn. Not Trinity's." Riley couldn't help the embarrassed blush that lit his face. "O-oh, yeah. That." The elders eyes burned with curiosity as their connection broke, Riley's head facing the dirt in embarrassment. "What I can't seem to figure out ..." Caspian caught the others attention once more, "...is why. Do you not want you wish fulfilled?" Riley just grinned, rubbing his neck a bit as he said, "I didn't need it." This surprised him but he still didn't understand. Seeing the confusion, Riley decided to elaborate. "You see, Who needs a wish when theirs has already come true? I have a home, a family... what more could I need?" This caused Caspian to freeze. Then e broke into laughter as he ruffled the mane on his son's head. "H-hey!!!" Riley exclaimed, the red creeping back up his cheeks. "What's so funny?!" Caspian just shook his head fondly. "We'd best be going inside. It's getting late. We don't want you getting sick." Riley stood with a grin, rushing to stand beside his father. "You sound worried. You must be getting soft in your old age." Riley said but there was no bite to his words. Caspian just laughed. "At least I've grown out of my baby fluff." He said before racing ahead. Riley shouted in irritation, racing to catch up and show his father how grown up he actually was. The stars in the sky watched on with mirth as the pair retreated to their home. They would remember this moment, forever brightened by the innocence of youth and the pride of a father. After all, the stars never forget.

Favorite fall treat and why:
Komaguru's favorite fall treats are caramel apples. She does not necessarily eat the apples, but rather lick the caramel off of the apples. When Komaguru is done licking the sweet sugary coating off, she would proceed to toss it at strangers to tick them off on purpose; for some reason, Komaguru enjoys the apple in terms of chucking them at others. Sometimes, the viscet would just re-dip the apples in caramel and lick the sugar off again, usually disgusting those around her. Komaguru also likes to play with her food; she would toss a caramel apple at a dartboard, hoping to get it to stick on the bulls eye. She would also roll up the treat in dirt, hoping to trick little ones to eat it by convincing them that it's covered with finely smashed cookie crumbs.

Unfortunately for Komaguru, Lotus and Chrys had no choice but to keep the mischievous viscet from enjoying her favorite fall treat as well as delivering Komaguru a nice smack on the head. It was just absolutely disgusting and annoying for the other viscets experiencing what Komaguru was doing. It didn't bother Komaguru, but she truly does enjoy disgusting those around her with the caramel apples. Of course, Komaguru will get her treat once in a blue moon.

Aki and Styx are not romantically together, though they are 'together'. Styx is Aki's soul companion, the two are almost always together and would tend to the visclings as if they were a real family.

Fern and Bug seem to have a rocky sort of relationship.Though the two love each other, as siblings do, they tend to get on one anothers nerves quite a bit. Bug is what you'd call a free spirit, she likes to do things on her own or make up games to play. Sometimes these things involve disobeying someone or breaking a few rules. This does not please Fern one bit. The older viscling has made it a habit of trying to tell the other siblings what is what. Fern can be a bit 'bossy' in Bug's opinion, which doesn't sit well between them for long. Bug can only stand Fern telling her what to do for so long before Bug gets fed up and either storms off to be alone or she resorts to physically attacking her sister. Bug seems to enjoy Fern much more when Bug can irritate her on purpose. Whether it be sneaking worms in her food, or placing beetles in her fur. For all the annoyance between these two, though, they love each other deeply when it boils down to it. They do have their nice moments where they get along. This usually happens when an adult is there to keep the peace.

It's pretty obvious that Peter and Bug get along a lot better than Bug and Fern. This is due to the fact that Peter seems so willing to go along with any of Bug's plans. Bug loves to tease Peter just as much as she loves to tease Fern, though she has to be a bit gentle with Peter. Where Fern would just get mad and go tell on her, Peter tends to have a bad habit of taking things to heart and bursting into tears. It took a short while for Bug to learn, and she still happens to be learning what she can, and can't do, to Peter. She does not like making him cry, so she tends to resort more to adventures with him. He is her baby brother and she treats him like it. She may baby him just a tiny bit and she gets exceptionally angry if anyone treats him wrong. She wouldn't think twice to nip at anyone or anything insulting or harming her brother in any way. Physically or emotionally. Bug and Peter get into trouble together quite often, though by now everyone knows that it isn't Peters fault. Bug is more than happy to take all of the blame for what they do and even acknowledges that if it wasn't for her Peter wouldn't get into trouble half as much as he does. She just has a bad habit of rolling with idea's or taking things she wants.

Bug's egg was discovered by Styx, though Styx had brought the egg home to Aki, Styx had seemed to develop an odd attachment to the egg. At this point Aki and Styx had already had their first child, Fern, though Fern seemed exceptionally attached to Aki. Styx frequently checked on the egg and attended to it, ensuring that it stay warm. Upon hatching, he was the first to catch a peek of the new life that emerge from it. Styx is soul bound to Aki, but a portion of his heart was suddenly snatched up in the tiny paws of the little pest he nicknamed 'Bug'. It could be said that Bug is truly a 'daddies girl' in every sense of the word. She watches everything that Styx does and will mimic it to the T. Bug loves her mother, Aki, but if Styx has time to play she will happily be there playing with him. Bug is constantly attempting to pounce and attack her father, claiming that he had better watch out because one day she will be big! When Bug isn't bugging her siblings she is with her father, rolling all over him, tugging on his ears, or attempting to frighten him. Styx commonly pretends to be annoyed with Bug, thus the nickname, he has even threatened to eat her before but never seems to follow through with his threats. Styx will allow Bug to get away with a lot more than the other children, as she truly is the apple of his eye. (256 words)

Bug and her family would celebrate Thanksgiving in a more traditional sense. Bug and her family would enjoy a nice meal, enjoying samples from the harvests of the year. The islands provide the druids with everything they need and thanks would be given to the islands, their ancestors, their friends and family, and everything in between. There would be a large festival on the island where druids would join together and share their meals and enjoy the company of one another. Aki was brought up as a Druid and their ways are embedded deep inside her, though she believes that one should be thankful every single day for the things they have, as it could be lost within moments. The Druids of the isles would preform rituals of thanks, this mostly resulting in tossing some of the harvest to the fires as offerings and praying to the spirits. Not a single soul would be idle on this day, as everyone would do their part. From the oldest to the youngest, everyone would take part in the festival. There would be a great deal of food, companionship and even games for the young. The end result of the night is families tucking their children into bed and sharing stories of the past.

Bug's absolute favorite fall treat would have to be chocolate covered caramel apples. Aside from being delicious, there is further reasoning behind her love of them. When bug had just hatched she was attempting to learn, as children do, the ways of the world. For a child, if you want something you simply take it, even more so if it is food. Despite the warning from her older sister, Fern, Bug had gone a little further away from her mothers hut than normal, following her nose towards the smell of something absolutely delicious. Bug found herself by the window of a hut much like her mothers, though the smell was coming from the window of this new hut. Inside, Bug watched as a female placed apples on sticks and covered them in caramel, soon after sprinkling chocolate chips and nuts all along the warm, gooey caramel. At this time Bug had never had caramel or chocolate. She already knew she loved apples, so why not try these new treats? She watched the female go about her job until all apples were covered, soon after setting them near the window to cool. As one could imagine, Bug pounce up onto the window and reach inside, grasping not just one, but six apples, filling her arms with as many as she could carry before running away to hide and enjoy her treat alone. She wasn't going to share with her sister, after all! Before Bug had even taken her first bite Styx was poking it's nose in the bush she was hiding, huffing at her to surprise her. Styx explained, then, that what she had done was called stealing and that it was wrong. Never once had he yelled at her or grown angry with her. The memory, that could have become a bad one, is not so. The gentle and calm nature of which he had explained the life lesson to her will always be appreciated and further serves to be the reason she loves Styx so much. Styx took Bug back to the hut of the female who had made the apples. Bug apologized for stealing the apples and offered to help make more. As it turned out, the batch had been for Bug and her family, though the female happily accepted the help of making more. This means that Bug not only got one of the apples that was originally meant for her, but she also was allowed one extra for helping the woman make the rest! (418 words)

Bug has never, and most likely will never, known her true parents. She does not bother with such ideas, though. She had only learned her story after mentioning how different she was from mommy and daddy. Aki and Styx did not lie to Bug, instead, they told her the truth, and Styx told her the story of how she had come to be a part of their family. It is Aki's job, as a druid, to keep the floating islands moving, so as they are not kept in one place for too long. Dangerous things seek the islands and would destroy them and everything on it if they were found. Styx rarely ever left Aki's side, though at the time, Aki had been terribly sick and she could not guide the islands as she was supposed to. In her place Styx took hold of the island chain and began his shift for the day. Styx was of course worried about Aki, though they were easily able to communicate from the distance due to their bond. Since Aki was sleeping and quiet most of the time he had wanted to focus on something else. This left Styx taking a more hazardous path than most would take, traversing a forest mountain with sheer drops and crumbling ledges. It was on this path that he managed to come across a snow covered body. At some point there had been an avalanche it seemed. Styx had spend a quick moment uncovering the body, only to find that no life remained within it. What he did find, though, was that the body had been curled tightly around an egg. Styx debated on calling to the druids above for help, though by this point his shift was almost over. Styx had brought the islands a long way by this point so he felt that it was alright to stop long enough to bury the body. By time the body was buried his relief had arrived, leaving Styx to take his egg up to the island where he, Aki, and Fern lived. Styx did not know how long the egg had been out in the cold, he did not know if the egg would even hatch at this time. Despite all of this, as he allow Fern to tend to her mother, he tended to the egg. Styx kept check on Aki when she was awake or called for him, though otherwise Fern seemed to do a fantastic job, there was no doubt in his mind that Fern was capable of taking care of Aki. A week went by and Aki recovered, though she seemed to tease Styx over his sudden affections for the egg. Thankfully Styx's time was not wasted, as after two weeks of keeping the egg warm and ensuring it was safe it began to crack. Styx was already with the egg, though he called for Aki the first crack he heard, it wasn't until after the egg had crumbled that she fully arrived. The very first face that Bug was to see was Styx's. The struggle to free herself from the egg was a rough one, and as she lay upon the earth, resting and regaining her strength she could feel the pieces of the egg being very gently removed from around her and off of her. Styx nuzzle the little viscet, gently cleaning her up and moving his tail to drape around her after she was clean. Aki arrived only to see the crumbled egg shell and goo from inside. Questioning where the little babe was she was cut short as a tiny head poke through the purple fluff that was Styx's tail fur. Styx, Aki, and Fern, welcome their fourth family member that day. A day that Styx will never forget, as they had literally lost a piece of their heart to the tiny viscling he now calls 'Bug'.
