Disposition and Condition wrote:This mare is one of the four AISPs found swimming off the coast of Seward. She is quite stubborn but treats go a long way with her, and she'll so anything for food. She was underweight due to a parasite infestation when we found her, but has begun to gain a little bit. We think she'll make a good tracking mare if she gets trained.

Task 1: AISP Retrieval Her eager gaze devoured the by now familiar information in her hands, having read and reread the folder's contents many times over by now. The AISP Association had approved her application, and the unassuming manila folder contained everything they'd sent her on her latest charge. A seven year old grey mare, of whom a few pictures had been included in the email and promptly printed out with everything else. Bright brown eyes flickered from the black and white text to the images of a similarly monochrome equine, particularly the picture which showed the mare nosing at her amused handler's empty pockets. A soft grin pulled across the young woman's visage, thinking of the variety of treats she had stuffed inside her own jacket's many pockets. Even if the mare turned out to be pickier than the footnotes implied, hopefully there'd be at least something in the edible assortment which would invoke the mare's curiosity. Everything from bananas, to apples, pears, carrots, sugar cubes, and spinach, as well as a few brands of horse cookies which were popular amongst her herd of Gypsies.
First impressions did hold some weight to them, after all, and Sera truly wished to get off on the right foot with this little mare.
Blinking once, her attention shifted towards the world outside the truck, alerted by the sudden decrease in speed. A winter wonderland cast overtop of similar yet still alien terrain, with a massive expanse of ocean visible in the distance. Yet what ensnared her attention were the holding pens, each containing at least one pony, and connected by a series of chutes and funnels meant to make moving the assorted equines easier on everyone involved. Chocolate pools peered about in both curiosity and anticipation, seeking out any equines which looked similar to the one in the photographs she'd been sent. Vaguely she realized that her cousin, the one who'd volunteered to drive up here with her, was laughing at her childish actions, but at the moment she couldn't care less. Her gaze had locked on a winter white pony who seemed to match the photos to a 'T', and a swift cursory glance saw the pale equine's location committed to memory as they moved farther away, towards the designated parking area.
Practically beaming already, she couldn't wait to meet the little mare who'd soon be joining their own modest herd. Even the thought of all the impending paperwork she'd have to fill out before the Aleutian Island Seal Pony could leave the lot didn't dim her mood in the slightest. Later, perhaps, when she was stuck in a chair, pen in hand, trudging through page after page of her greatest bane, but at the moment? At the moment she was far too elated to come down from cloud nine for anything so mundane and dreary.[471 words] O O O
Task 2: On-Site Vet Check
Gentle hands skimmed over pale fur, swift but thorough in their investigation. Pressing lightly here and there, then more firmly when the patient made no move of protest nor pain. Down cannon bones and against pulse points, testing with careful care for any apparent abnormalities. Lingering upon areas which seemed to be of any note, such as the small scrapes and patches of half grown fur which weren't all that unusual for any equine used to roughing it in the wilds. If her gypsies could get in as much trouble as they did just out in the pastures and in the barn, then it stands to reason that would be stranger if the grey mare were perfectly pristine, without such miniscule imperfections. If such were the case, especially with how friendly and compliant the little grey had been thus far, Sera would of been concerned that perhaps Sanya -as she'd taken to calling the mare- already had an owner, and one who had already worked with the mare to boot.
Of course, her prepared stash of sweets, treats, and other tantalizing things to eat had steadily been dwindling since she and her cousin had first been introduced to their latest charge. The pony had the nose of a bloodhound, it seemed, steadily finding each and every pocket where Sera had stored the edible goodies. Catching sight of movement out of the corner of her eye, and already expecting something of the sort, the young woman was ready when Sanya grew impatient with the slow dispersal of treats- demanding more. As the pony went to firmly sink her teeth on a particularly pleasant smelling pocket, a shift caused it to be not a pocket, but rather an elbow which greeted her soft yet greedy muzzle. Recoiling slightly from the sudden, unexpected discomfort, the island pony sharply blew through her nose to give voice to her own displeasure, ears briefly flicking back to pin before the rustle of a now-familiar bag snatched her attention. Fuzzy grey ears swiveled, while seafoam blue eyes staring intently at the semi-transparent plastic which held her heart's desire. Yet given the prior rebuke, the little mare was more wary in her approach this time, minding her manners as she waited with some resemblance of patience for the human to actually offer up one of the thickly cut apple wedges.[392 words] O O O
Task 3: The New Area
Winter white ears pricked forward, seafoam eyes gleaming bright in eager interest. Sanya's steps were high, energetic as she drank in the frosted winds. A plume of hot air escaped trembling nostrils, and in her excitement the greyed once bay mare began to crowd her handler, shoving against the young woman on the other end of the lead. A short, sharp jerk on the line caused the mare to start, her quickening strides faltering as she was reminded of the petit human's presence. Fluffy ears pulled back in a pin, teeth flashing as she moved to nip the woman in her own reprimand. One mare skittish, the other young and headshy- amongst the mares of her prior herd, Sanya had her way more often than not. It would take a while before any sort of pecking order could be established and the stubborn mare would accept that it wouldn't be her way or the highway anymore.
Yet her attempt was met by an elbow to the nose, causing the pale mare to stop dead in her tracks even as Sera continued on as though nothing had happened, acting as though the entire altercation was no big deal. The lead ran out before Sanya took another step, pulling the brunette to a stop as she maintained a firm hold on the black and blue nylon. Seconds ticked by, fleeing into minute after minute as neither refused to budge. Calm brown eyes peered off towards the small pasture waiting for the island pony, her posture loose and relaxed with her back turned mostly toward the little mare. Meanwhile, belligerent blues reluctantly reconsidered, pink tongue darting out as Sanya mouthed the air, head lowering and tension similarly dropping as she hesitantly took one ginger step forward. A pleased smile curled across the human's visage, waiting still to see what the mare would do next. A slight hum saw pale ear pricked forwards once more, and Sera listened with no small amount of satisfaction to the sound of the grey mare licking and chewing, and the nearing crunch of crisp white snow beneath surefooted black hooves. There was no sound of crinkling plastic, yet a soft peppermint was offered up on a flat palm just as soon as the equine came within reach.
With no further fuss, the pair continued towards the final destination of their introductory tour.

Task 4: The Release
(Ah, quick question; would it be possible for me to turn the above lines into gift lines for the species without it invalidating said art as a task piece?)
