We wonder if they’re there,
If they really even care.
When they stare through us,
With a look of horror and disgust.

Do they despise us?
It seems that way,
When they yell and cuss.
We never get a say

There is no pleasing some people these days.
When they glower and huff,
The memory of angry eyes stays…
Sometimes they get rough.

When they lash out and cuff,
Tears spring to your eyes,
But you must look tough,
So you stay in disguise.

Whiskey and Rum
It’s never ‘just one’.
So why do we stay?
Why not run away?

Desperate and depressed
You’ve been here before.
Feelings are no longer repressed.

It’s not just a phase,
It’s more of a trend,
It becomes just a haze,
Of tears and dead ends.

Stand up and rise,
Look to the light,
Look to the skies,
For you know what is right.

I tread this empty land,
searching for something that will never be found,
I wander across rocks, grass and sand,
And inside the darkness there is not sound.

It's black, I can't see through the haze
but I don't stop,
Because I remember a face,
A memory I can't drop.

I cannot remember a time,
When each day was easy to get through,
And I wasn't pushed past the line,
But my heart will always stay true.

Even if it's dark,
