Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

You'll get to design the face for this kalon!!
- Only sketches though, you shouldn't spend more than maybe 45 min max
- It must be fully colored but the lines can stay messy as long as I can still tell what's happening
- Don't use colors that aren't already on the palette
+ You'll be allowed to explain why they hide their face

Why do they hide their face?
Larissa walked down the bleak sidewalk and passed by a few neighbors. Head down, earbuds in, she lowered the volume as the couple continued their conversation, "...Look, there she goes again. When will she ever take that thing off? Halloween isn't for another month". The words formed a hard ball in her gut, draining the confidence out of her like a parasite. She blasted Cake By the Ocean through her phone, drowning out her sorrows with the pop lyrics.
"Oh, no, see you walkin' round like it's a funeral," she hummed, adjusting her mask in mid-stride. Larissa shoved the comment aside in her head, rehearsing how it's only her business when it comes to her fashion. After all, because of her cleft lip, she had always been self-conscious of it.
Yet, thanks to her friends and some body-positivity posts on her social media, the tech-savvy Kalon grew to appreciate the deformity.
It's my identity, something I am only able to see. I don't want anyone else to look at it, since they don't get its beauty like I do, Larissa skipped along the sidewalk. She smiled under the mask. It's my secret.

Ripley, prior to his love of covering his unfortunate
markings, had to explain this to strangers who walked
up to offer him comfort every. single. day.
people just cannot mind their own business. there always
has to be that goody-two-shoes who walks over and asks
if he's okay! of course he's okay!!! leave him alone!!!
it was even more difficult to convince people, though,
because Ripley is deaf. aggressively trying to sign "IM OK"
in a hostile tone doesn't really get across to some people,
unfortunately.
it's frustrating, and he got tired of it.

why the mask? |

seph wears their mask for several reasons; what began as simply keeping their bangs long to hide their tired eyes in grade school morphed into an undeniable fear of anyone seeing their face. regarded as a calm kalon who always knew where they were going, seph couldn't bear to let anyone know when the stress became too much, and instead shook beneath the weight of the problems of those around them. becoming a working student in gemology designing and cutting gemstones required them to wear a mask to protect them during the manufacturing stages; with a bit of an artistic twist, seph fell in love with the sense of safety it gave them and began wearing it constantly- behind it, they can be whoever they want. Why do they hide their face?
Kamir is the prince of a wealthy kingdom, where he hosts masquerade parties every weekend at the palace.
Nobody has ever seen the prince, since he is very mysterious in nature. Kamir always slips into the ballroom
during the parties, and nobody ever knows its him whenever he twirls and dances across the slick floor or flirts
with the ladies. He goes by the name "The Lace Prince" due to his lacy costume he wears each time he comes
to the parties, or "The Space Prince" for his star-scattered mask.

Secondly, he hides his face because he believes he isn't one of those "handsome princes" that everyone speaks
of. As a child, his mother, the queen, always remarked that he was an ugly child. He ran off, tears streaking
down his face, and he made himself a mask and always remained locked in his room, just because he wasn't
good enough.

His mask was painted with stars and galaxies, since he was fascinated by them as a child. Kamir has worn the same
mask ever since childhood, and doesn't dare take it off.
