This, our third horsey, is based on one of the most beautiful planets: Naboo. It has played a critical role in the politics on the galaxy and also holds a few darker secrets.

Naboo has a varied landscape, including open plains, rolling hills, crystal-clear lakes, and darker swamps. Aside from the varied wildlife this habitat diversity brings it is also home to two sentient species: the humans in their terrestrial cities and the amphibious Gungans in their underwater cities. Originally there was a reptilian species known as the Elders who were responsible for driving the Gungans underwater, but due to their negligence in maintaining their environment the Elders went extinct. Humans would later colonise the planet, with skirmishes often breaking out between the colonists and the indigenous Gungan race. Despite this they were dependent on each other for trade, leading to an uneasy truce between the two deeply-prejudiced races. Conflicts would even break out between different groups within their own species, with the Time of Suffering within the human conflict being the most notable. It wouldn't be until Jafan (a human male) that this conflict would end, leading to Jafan becoming King of all Naboo and the founding of Naboo's capital city Theed. Around this time Naboo also became a member of the Galactic Republic in which it would eventually become a key player. Later on a young man by the name of Sheev Palpatine would be born on the planet, a force sensitive with a seething hatred for his family, his father in particular. When choosing to join a political group to spite his father he caught the attention of Hego Damask, who was really the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis in disguise. When the Sith saw the young man's potential and tested him by getting him to murder his own family (which the boy relished in) he agreed to train Palpatine in the ways of the Sith. With Plagueis's guidance Palpatine, now Sith Lord Darth Sidious, would remain in politics in order to rise to power, killing his master and eventually becoming Emperor Palpatine of the Galactic Empire.
During his rise to power he orchestrated a scandal leading to the abdication of the current king in favour of Padmé Naberrie (who took the formal name Amidala). She attempted to trade with the Trade Federation, but it wasn't long until negotiations turned sour and Naboo found itself under a military blockade (again orchestrated by the Sith Lord.) The Republic sent Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi Wan Kenobi to negotiate peace, but due to Palpatine's manipulation an attempt to assassinate the Jedi was made, however both Jedi escaped onto the planet's surface and, after a short meeting with the Gungans, escorted the Queen off the planet to speak to the Galactic Senate. After things didn't go as smoothly as she had hoped, she returned to Naboo and made a truce with the Gungans, with the united species, with the assistance of Qui Gon Jinn, Obi Wan Kenobi and a very young Anakin Skywalker, able to liberate their planet of the blockade. In the build up towards the Clone Wars Palpatine was elected Sumpreme Chancellor (after a speech given by Representative Jar Jar Binks) and Naberrie/Amidala would become extremely close to and eventually marry Jedi Anakin Skywalker in secret. When the Clone Wars broke out Naboo saw some of the conflict, including the near-successful revival of the Blue Shadow Virus as a form of CIS chemical warfare. After the war ended Naberrie/Amidala, who had died after giving birth to twins, was buried there and Naboo soon fell under the control of the Galactic Empire. Despite some internal power struggles Naboo would remain under complete Empire control until the Empire collapsed and, like all other planets under the Empire's thumb, was liberated. It would then re-join the New Republic and the government was able to restabilise.

This mare was inspired by the beauty of the planet she represents. From its natural beauty in the form of plains and water features to the elegant buildings within the cities, Naboo is truly one of my favourite planets! I thought that the Andalusian would be the best breed as it is, at least in my opinion, one of the most beautiful breeds in the world. Her flowing mane and tail are supposed to represent how bountiful and fertile the landscape is.
