Gender;
Stallion
Story;
"Alright Nirav. It's time to get ready to go. We wanna look good for when your new people come to get you, yes?"
Nirav tilted his head slightly to the side and whinnied.
The human, a kind, gentle, old man, brought the stallion to the cleaning stall and started to clean him. Brushed out his beautiful coat, watching as all his shedding hair fell light feathers to the ground. The gentle old man brushed out his mane and tail, being careful not to do it too hard. He brushed Nirav's forelock, and when he was done brushing everything, he rested his head on the horses, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He closed his eyes, breathed in the scent of his horse one last time, tears slowly falling from his eyes, down his face, onto his neck and finally dropping onto the collar of his button up flannel where they took their final resting place.
"I sure will miss you, boy." He took a seat in the corner of the stall where he had sat a chair years earlier. His knees weak and aching, his back hunched from years of slaving over work. His ears nearly shot and was almost completely deaf. But the one thing that never changed, was his love for his horse.
Nirav nuzzled the old man's cheek gently in reply.
Eventually, the old man was able to get up and bathe Nirav, making his coat sleek and shiney. Shortly after, the new owner had arrived to pick him up.
Not long after, he was being loaded up into a horse trailer.
Nirav, desperate to be with his human, struggled and made loading complicated. He pulled away, shook his head, wouldn't approach the trailer.
The old man, grabbed the lead rope, and gently said, "Come boy. Don't worry. It'll be okay. They're gonna take great care of you. Be good now." As he talked to his horse, he rubbed the bridge of his nose, calming Nirav. He tied him up and walked out.
Shortly after, Nirav felt the trailer shift and he was moving farther and farther away from his human.
His heart ached. He stomped around as much as he could, making as much noise as possible, making sure they knew how unhappy he was.
He arrived and there was a mare out in the pasture. One of two patures, that is.
He suddenly closed up and became quiet once again. He didn't know her nor did he want to seem stupid in front of someone he didn't know. In the same pasture, was a stallion, obviously her father. Nirav was definitely not causing trouble in front of another stallion.
He was lead out to the second pasture, where he kept his distance from the fence line.
Days later, he finally approached it when Eden, the mare he had seen, had called out to him. She explained her father had gone to get shoed.
He shook out his mane and slowly approached.
"What's your name, stranger?"
He sat quiet, about 6 feet from the fence her head hung over as she spoke.
"Ahh. Not a talker? That's okay. I can speak for you. Dad always says I talk too much for my own good."
This made Nirav smile slightly and his nerves relax a little. He approached a bit more.
"I'm Nirav," he said. "My human- I mean my previous person had named me that. I guess I wasn't too rowdy when I was born. I was always good I guess," he said, starting to open up.
"I like it! Well welcome to White Orchard. You'll love it here. You get all the food you can possibly want. And it's some good stuff!"
From then on, they were the best of friends. Her dad wasn't a fan because of course, new boy is a stallion and that's his baby girl.
Nirav adored Eden and basically mirrored her every move from the other side of the fence, as much as he possibly could. For some reason, she was easy to talk to. Maybe it was her high spirit or how much she talked. Maybe it was just simply enjoying her company and their many conversations.
