You know, the username was inspired by a friend - he used a really weird word beginning with K, so I looked up some interesting words and boom this one - and chromosynthesia - caught my eye.
Basic Info:
Their name is Naeden Strand - 'strand' actually means 'seashore' in Middle Low German, so I saw it as quite fitting
They are DFAB, but are genderfluid (any pronouns go)
They are bisexual and aromantic
They're very close friends with Louise-Ruth

How do they feel about the ocean?
Naeden is actually quite wary of the ocean and what is beneath its surface - an odd feeling for a water-dweller - but it's perfectly reasonable, as they have a fear of the dark, and, to an extent, sharks. Excluding this, their feelings about the ocean are quite vast - everything from the love for how the water feels in different places to the tranquility they get when watching shoals of fish performing dances, octopi squirming on the sea floor, baby dolphins being born.

However, a feeling exclusive to themselves - and maybe a few others - is something they feel is generated by the waves and tides of the ocean; the sounds of the sand rustling against sand, the crustaceans snuggling deeper into their grooves. The bubbles from underwater volcanoes, the splashes of water against rock.

The name for this feeling, is hope.

Hope. Meaning a promise, or a desire. "A feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best". The reason Naeden feels this way, is because of everything described - the sounds, the warmth of the ocean's dwellers, the breathing sounds - they all allude to hope, because Naeden feels that the sea shows how everything has a chance. To live, to breathe, to die. The sea is where people throw their promises, wishes, desires - a scroll bound in a glass bottle with a cork on top; a shiny coin for luck; thousands of wishes thrown into the sea for multiple reasons, and even if they are not fulfilled right away, Naeden is sure they will be soon.
(Let's keep it a secret that they absolutely love collecting these coins and bottles with scrolls and reading the wishes of others, so whoever grants these must be having a field day about not having any work to do - whether that's good or bad is up to you.)

The ocean actually makes Solangelo sad.
That's probably not a normal thing, but he's
realized this. The ocean makes him sad because
nobody seems to respect it. Without respect, the
ocean is loosing its beauty. With so much damage
to the coral reefs, so much pollution, and so much
oil leaking, the ocean isn't as amazing anymore.
Lots of creatures are loosing their lives and lots of
sea plants are being covered in muck. It's not safe.
It's not beauty. It's not what it once was. It's not what
it still could be. Too many people have betrayed it.

the ocean is very freeing to elfy. it's always been as a warm, welcoming friend.
no matter what was going on in her life, if she could just dive into the ocean,
she'd feel better instantly. one of her biggest dreams has always been to sail
around the world. elfy sees the ocean not only as a comfort but as the ultimate
highway to all places new and exciting.
