what is a floppet? wrote:what is a floppet?
A floppet is an omnivorous marine mammal, with the exception of gills and fins. They are the only known mammal with gills as far as we know. They have either long or short fur, depending on their mutations. They vary in size, color, mutation and personality. They are exceptionally intelligent, and adore attention. Floppets tend to live in groups called " Flops ". They are social creatures, and can become depressed if they haven't interacted with other floppets for long periods of time. They are very friendly, and lovable animals. Will you take one home today?

Floppets were first discovered off the coast of the Galapagos, which is the perfect climate and habitat for these beasts. They were first spotted in the late 1800s, long after Charles Darwin's study of the islands. They were believed to be one of the reasons " mermaid sightings " became fairly common, due to their long fish-like tail, but later on upon closer examination they were discovered to be canine like fish. Like fish, they have gills and fins. Thus giving them their scientific name, Pieces Canis, meaning fish dog in latin. They are often compared to seals, as their large blubbery legs resemble that of a seal's skin, and the way they move on land is similar to a seal. On occasion, Floppets could be spotted wandering around in a rookery of seals. Although humans first encountered them on these islands, new evidence has shown that they may have originated in Antarctica.

Scientists believe that Floppets once lived in the frigid waters of Antarctica, due to the fact they have fur. Most marine mammals have little to no fur, but Floppets seem to be the exception. With this research, scientists decided to look for more evidence that floppets have lived in Antarctica, and after years of expedition, remains that trace back to Floppets have been found. Floppets are still being researched, and many more questions have risen about these animals. How did they get from Antarctica to the Galapagos? Why do their whisker barbs glow? How long have these animals been around? Scientists are working hard to discover these answers.

As of recent, Floppets have been domesticated, and docile floppets have been bred to create a new population of house-friendly Floppets. They have since become wildly popular in demand as a household pet, and they have seem to have adapted to their climate and conditions. The best we can do to study them ourselves is by keeping one as a pet. They have grown more common and accepted into society, and are thought of as normal pets. They do demand a lot of grooming and a large area of space to keep them healthy and happy though. If you think you're ready to own one and study your new friend, then you've come to the right place.

● Floppets are highly intelligent and are thought to be sentient.

● Floppets have excellent hearing, even underwater.

● On land, they move similar to a seal, thus they are called Floppets.

● Floppets are extremely graceful underwater.

● Although it is still uncertain what they use their whisker barbs for,
it is thought they use it to attract prey or to attract a mate.

● Floppets can change the amount of light that comes out of their
whisker barbs.

● They have been recorded to live up to 30 years in the wild.

● They don't have to mate for life, but some Floppets prefer it that way.

● A breeding usually results in up to 2 pups.

● Same sex Floppets can breed and produce offspring.

● Floppets are harmless to humans.

● They can range in size from a small German Shepard to a large Gray wolf.

● Have a wide range in sound, including various clicks, barks, whistles,
grunts, and indescribable sounds.

● Can identify most colors and shapes, some have even been known to count
up to 20.

● surprisingly, they can ingest chocolate, avocados and other harmful things to
other animal species.
