ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ᴋᴀʟᴏɴs?
Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.

Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

EDIT: there will be 1 guaranteed runner up., who will get a kalon based off another color of axolotl! There may be two if i find a form good enough. There will be 2 honorable mentions, 3 if there is enough forms. They will not recieve a kalon, but will be praised.
for the contest, you have to design this kalon's life! example, everyday things they do, etc. go wild! i love fancy forms. no word limit. add extras if you wish -- maximum of 3 extras.
EDIT AGAIN: adding simple things to the basics (kalon's name/gender) such as the kal's birthday, favorite things, and such as long as they do not go into too much depth (explaining favorites, example).
If you draw this kalon in say, human form, you may write about them in such. that will count as 1 extra. writing something with a piece of art will also count as a single extra. a doodle page (multiple doodles of the kal one one oekaki/paper/etc) will also count as v1 art.
Art may be 1 extra alone, but you can write stuff relating to what has been drawn to total 1 extra. (2 pieces of art w/ no explanation - 2 extras)

Esmé's a shy little dude who likes to keep his head buried in all things
asocial. He loathes social conversations, believing that they're the "bane of my
existence". Yet, if forced to, he will try his best to keep it smooth. But, don't get your
hopes up; the poor child can barely keep a small chat going, much less a
greeting. How can he be responsible for the fate of a conversation? It
simply won't happen!
With that said, Esmé much prefers the company of his favorite tv shows, like
Brooklyn Nine Nine, The Office, Voltron: Legendary Defenders, and even
a sprinkle of Grey's Anatomy, if he's feeling a strong need to see
Mc Dreamy's face on his computer. Even though his taste in shows
can be viewed as sub-par, Esmé is the kind of Kalon who is more
than willing to sacrifice his favorite shows for the betterment
of his friend. What can he say? Isn't this the twenty-first
century's form of chivalry?

Esmé's whole life has been fairly easy. He was raised in a cozy home, with two parents that created a nationwide electronics industry. As a child, he could accompany his father down the crowded aisles of workers, many of which were trying to keep the production tempo as they assembled monitor, after monitor, after monitor.He had wondered how awesome it'd be to work with the owner (dad) and the CEO (mom). Then again, his home life reflected that; parents persuaded one another over the variety of house chores, or even debated the pros of getting honey roasted ham at the deli (which, by the way, did happen. Esmé got to eat some of the lunch meat on their drive home, much to his mother's dismay).
Besides his wealthy upbringing, Esmé's an only child to doting parents, the likes of which love to indulge on their son's requests. Esmé wants a car for his sixteenth birthday? Why not make it a corvette? Does little Esmé want to go to college? Why, a quick call from dad can make that happen!
Yet, this easy, paved upbringing has left Esmé feeling empty. He himself hasn't worked a minute of his life (until senior year, the start of his decent modeling career). Esmé yearned for adventure, but most of all, he wanted to provide for himself.
Esmé took on modeling because he'd travel the world, do tons of photo shoots, and learn what the world is really like outside the plastic bubble his parents made.
Quite simply put, Esmé wants to feel alive.

Photography

Photography Photography Photography.... Could
This girl love anything more? Possibly, but it
would
be rare for something of that much importance
to exist. Anywere and everywhere you go she
will have her camra strapped around her neck
a long with a few extra battery packs just in case.
See now Lucy doesn't just look at the beautiful
areas of the world, she looks for the rustic old
fashion common places. Most photographers
walk past that little shop that's always on the
corner of the street, barely anyong goes there's
as it looks like a beaten down shack but the owners
know just one photo from Lucy can turn that beaten
down old shack into the hottest nick'nac store
in that area. "Its all about the angle" is a well known
quote amoung her friends. If you ask her to take
a group photo one second she could be footed
on the ground and the next belly and chin resting
on the group camre up and tilted slightly. Maybe
of a plant, depends on the plant... Lets say just
a leaf. Her favorite type of photo for a plant is
in the morning with the dew still packed together.
If you get a leveled photo of that and make it focus....
You really got yourself a winner there.

Drawing

Not a vary favourable talent of Lucy's in drawing
don't get me wrong, she loves to draw and create
pictures of her own like she's making her own
little world (which she is) but she doesn't have
a lot of coincidence in showing off her drawings
and peices of art. They are pretty good, but she
(like any artist) doesn't think they look as she
planned/wanted/or look 'propper'
Drawing to her is anything between scetching
and filling in pencil markings with color. Her favorite
Type of drawing she does is well... sketching.
Its just a fun stroke and wisp of your hand that
some how turns out to look like something amazing.
What does she like to draw or sketch? Well there's
a lot to that, I can range from being just a simple
hand of her friend to a stream off in the woods
she happened to stumble upon it may also be
something located were no one has ever gone
before.... Her thoughts.

Singing

Most don't count this as a hobby as those believe
hobbies are meant to be shared and shown to the
world, But to her a hobby is when something is enjoyed
and done a lot by the person. And Lucy does A lot
of singing, not around others and rarely to Jackson or
Celestial but when shes alone this girl can sing her heart
out. Lucy's genre of music consists of, what most would call
it, Alternative music. If you were to ask her who her favorite
artist/band is she'd smirk and happy reply with, "Of Monsters
and Men." Why? Its different, its not what you'd hear a lot of
plus it sets her in any mood she wants to be in, It also really
sparks up her artistic side! Though she can sing her heart out
to many songs when she listens to "Of Monsters and Men" its
more of a just listen don't sing but think type of thing. She doesn't
always love to sing so finding a band group to have that type of
music is a true gift in her life.

Lucy has two close friendships.

Jackson - Jackson is a close friend of Lucy's they really hit
it off as friend. Jackson was into photography as she was,
along with taking walks in nature just looking at the beauty
around. But at times like Lucy he can get 'outgoing'.

Lucy has a little secret she likes to keep from Jackson,
I wouldn't necessarily say its a bad secrete though. She's
going to be fairly upset if she finds out that I told you but...
Lucy has a little, 'little', thing for Jackson. Since the day they
met toward on to this day she has gained many feelings about
him. Some good some bad some iffy, but she knows celestial
knows her other friends know, everyone but him. Everyone is
dumbfounded to even think for a second that Jackson doesn't
know she likes him, she istoo! She doesn't act as if she has
butterflies in her stomach 24/7 when she is around him, but it
tends to happen out of the middle of no were. But when the
butterflies come... oh they come, She sometimes forgets how to
speak and just spills out words that don't make sense. Along with
always having a bright smile and a dark red face as if embarrassed.

Celestial - Celestial is Lucy's up beat closest female friend.
They have always been with each other, and its hard to
separate them. When Lucy is off being quite, doing
photography and relaxing she comes back to an
up beat vary hyper active and outgoing character.
Which never bothers her, for she doesn't show that
side to Jackson as much as Celestial, It is also good
to have that friend you can open up to and have like
a sister (as for they do joke around they are sisters
in public)

In a quick explanation for her two close friends,
Celestial is one to accept her hyper fun outgoing
side. As for Jackson he knows a lot more of her
'artistic' side, photography art and (rarely) music.

City girl or country girl? Many ask, Lucy is the country side.
She could live out in the middle of no where, as long
as she had her voice and a camera she would survive.
As for city life, She would never be able to live in a place
like New-York. Its to crowded for her liking, though visiting
she wouldn't mind as for a place like that is full full
of good places for photography.

Lucy would never be able to make it in a city for two reason.
Cities are close and packed together, She cant be in a tight fit
or else her claustrophobia kicks into high gear. Something like
that happened before, it left her mind thumping her mouth
dry from screaming and her face wet and puffy from tears.
Even having to many people close to her, like walking down a
hallway with a person on each end of her gets her heart thumping.
She also has terrible anxiety. Just before anything big shes left
pacing the room, breathing heavily, body shaking uncontrollably,
and sometimes getting to the point of wheezing. This is why Lucy
never went into any big job or production, she would love to and wants
to but imagining this happening just before her big moment.... That
would be to much for her, all the embarrassment added onto her anxiety
and fear of people not liking her and judging her? I'd say that is torture.
-panic attacks

Surprisingly the thing that she understands the least is feelings,
she is never able to tell that she likes a person, how others
are feeling, what shes truly feeling like, or how to change
how you feel. Its something she though as if it was easy to
understand feelings but wasn't. That is something that scares
her, not being able to know how she feels or other feel.
Though she is who she is, most Kalons would not think she felt
this ways but on the inside Lucy is scared worried and frightened.
Worried shes being judged silently by everyone and thinking they
talk about her being her back. Scared what may happen next and
if shes not ready to take on the world. and Frightened if she messes
up, will she get another chance to fix what she did? No one knows
she thinks about these type of things and is truly scared even with
her lane outside. It never shows either, she may have those rare
occasions were she breaks down in her room stressing herself with
her thoughts but shes never opened up that much to someone. She tried
with Celestial but she never took is seriously.

That's part of Lucy, there are three main parts to Lucy and you'll learn
those soon enough.

WIP

Oh yes, Lucy does a lot of thinking.... running her mind crazy with
thoughts of her she made it here on this world, how it was made, if there
is a true person watching over everyone (as for she is Buddhism) Or if after
death you become a new life form. Those are just a few thoughts that run
threw Lucy's head every now and than, getting her to stop and look at the little
things in life. Like a simple bird that lands on her when she is silent and still.
She takes in everything about it, how it acts, the way it flys, the sounds it
makes, were it lives, how it reacts to certain things. Everything, But in doing
so it really has gotten her to look at the world differently.
