Backstory: you must be wondering what I mean by 'former nightsheer' ! Well, when Bucky was younger, he was captured by a group of very powerful Nightsheer. They subjected him to torture very jarring nightmares countless times. The nightsheer would create and plant these very realistic thoughts in his mind, and each time Bucky's anxieties rose within him. Eventually, he began shifting into a nightsheer - however, the group of nightsheer was so precise with their process that Bucky hardly ever exhibited any physical changes, they only twisted his mind.
They made one mistake, though, when they became a little lazy with their process since it had been coming along so successfully. Bucky's left forearm began shifting and changing after one extremely unsettling nightmare where he dreamt his arm was torn off. This was too much for Bucky - his fur there began to become coarse and fall out since he was under such intense pressure and fear. The nightsheer upgraded this arm to metal in order to make his missions easier, or else that arm would have completely withered away. From then on, they were all very careful during Bucky's transformation from Sheer to Nightsheer.
These Nightsheer's physical forms had become so dark and terrifying that they could no longer sneak into people's dreams to cause them nightmares - they needed a discreet Nightsheer, one who could appear innocently in a dream, sneak in unnoticed, and twist it into a nightmare. And that's where Bucky came in. They forced Bucky to cause nightmares to people [and even Sheer], to do the job they could no longer do. For quite a while, Bucky lost his original personality and had no idea what he was doing. He was under the group's complete control. That is, until one day he was sent out to cause a nightmare, and then one important detail caused him to recall who he really was. [wip]
Personality: Bucky is a very sweet and considerate Sheer, and the last thing he would ever want to do it to cause somebody harm. He is afraid that without another Sheer protecting him, his mental state will shift back to nightsheer, since he is constantly haunted by the nightmares he was subjected to; and this causes him to have quite intense anxiety from time to time. He has learned to cope and to make himself think positively over the years, but he tends to be very reserved now and is afraid to let anyone become close to him for he fears he will hurt them.
Bucky remembers every single person and Sheer he caused to have nightmares, and has made it his mission to locate all of them to make sure that they all dream happily and no longer suffer from the nightmares he once caused them.
