What are Khimaira Friesians?
Khimaira Friesians are a "normal" friesian breed with all characteristics of a friesian and a average height from 15 to 17 hands, but even 18 hands can occur. The first born Khimaira was mistaked for a chimera horse. But a genetic test showed otherwise, there wasn't a second DNA but a complete new and unknown gen. Because this gen makes the friesian look like a chimera it was named khimaira. khimaira doesn't produce a complete new dna coat and therefor it can only lighten or darken the base coat of the horse. Till now only the paint khimaira is known that makes the khimaira coloration looks like tobiano, overo, sabino or splash. But we believe that there will be more khimaira variations out there and we still try to breed them. Appaloosas are not known till now, but we have some great friesian mixed horses with appaloosa patterns, so we are sure to deliver them to you in a short amount of time.

Why you chose the name: When I saw him I thought that he looked like the color of light, and the sun, a gold color, and also looked kind of playful and joyous so I wanted to pick a name that conveyed that idea, so I chose the god Helios, who brings in the sun every day.
Why you chose the God/Creature: Helios is the Greek God who drives a chariot of four winged steeds every day to bring the sun into the sky. He lives in a golden palace on the east where he begins his fly into the sky every day. He's treated as the personification of the sun sometimes, and other times as a god who is responsible of bringing in the sun. One time his son tried to drive the chariot and he set the world into flames. Helios is the only one who can drive the chariot and bring the sun that gives the world light. Because I thought of the sun when I saw him, I decided to give him a name dealing with it, and it was frankly kind of a great coincidence that we have to do a mythical creature or god because I like names involving gods. So yeah, Helios is the one who brings light and the sun, like this horse makes me think of light.
