i hope someday i can live by the ocean
where the water meets the sky in the distance
and a cool breeze, salty and misty, dances through the beach
in the mountains it gets sunny,
but there is nowhere to frolic
in the cool ocean waves
and there are no shells to be found
and collected, and shared

in the mountain, i find puddles
and light-colored flowers
crushed-up rocks
like sand
and i can think of the place
i wish to call home
and be happy
i hope someday i can live by the ocean

Would he ever feel me catch my breath every time he passes by?
Would he ever know the way I feel when I had to say goodbye?

Will I ever find someone like him, the way he understands?
Will I ever keep my heart from breaking, when I think how it didn't go as planned?
Will I even know what I would have said if the time had ever been at hand?

Will he ever know how much I missed him in that first few days?
Will he ever know how scared I was when the flame began to fade away?
Did he feel my gentle tears as I pleaded and I preyed?

Was I more than just a little pain to my wonderful begetter?
Was he forgotten when he left, did he leave my life forever?
But despite my broken heart and all I want to say, I leave these simple phrases before the light begins to fade.
