☁ Why is it sad? ☁
☕ This Kalon is sad because recently, they have been being made fun of.
Not only by other Kalons, but by other creatures in general.
Some have said that they admire them for toughening through it all,
but it's hard to believe the minority when the majority is so harsh.
Their poor little head has been poisoned by the harsh words of others,
like little demons making homes inside their emptying heart.
There's still home for them, though. They can be rescued from the sea
of negativity if only someone were to love them, and take care of them. ☕
☁ How would you cheer it up? ☁
☕ I would cheer this little Kalon up by making them into a "sushi roll."
I would wrap them tightly in a warm blanket and put them in a comfy
spot. I'd wipe their tears away and make sure they drink lots of water,
because crying could dehydrate them. I'd feed them their favorite
foods and let them drink hot chocolate, with cute marshmallows.
Most importantly, though, I'd tell them 12 times a day, every day,
that they're unique and absolutely beautiful in every single way. ☕

Roderick is one of the clumsiest little creatures, cute, talkative, but he let's words slip from his mouth, and the floor seems to like jostling him around. He's lost many a job and many a friend to his slip ups and mishaps. Well, people tell him not everything is his fault, but he just has a way of thinking that puts him at the butt of eath's jokes. He's always seen himself as the fault, the wrong. He's been blaming himself for his cousin's death, even though logically he knows it was a terminal illness, a cancer. He had nothing to do with it. But he should have done something. He doesn't want to talk about it, for fear of losing the blame, for fear of someone else becoming the butt of life's joke.
How would you cheer it up?;
"Roderick, listen to me.", Elys looked down upon him with a stern but gentle gaze. Her golden eyes glimmering in the dull moonlight. "You've been locked in this loft for days, please, tell me what's wrong. I can help you!", Roderick didn't move, his eyes being the only thing to acknowledge that El was even there. The golden girl sighed heavily before she sat next to his form, hugging him close. He gave a minor resistance, a shove to her armpit before he felt tears threaten to fall to the ground. "El! Stop, I'll hurt you too!", Elys felt her own cries begin to start,"It's not your fault Roderick, you haven't done anything wrong.", Roderick looked up with soulful and sad eyes, water pouring from their lids. "I'm the reason Leo's dead, I couldn't save him, the tumor bested him, and I couldn't stop it. I didn't stop it! He's dead because I failed!", the grey boy shrieked in internal agony, the flood only just beginning as he turned into the shoulder of Elys. The girl looked down to the boy she once knew, this wasn't the Roderick she knew at all. He'd never think so irrationally. She held him for a moment or two before pulling away, holding him at arms length and meeting his eyes. "Roderick, listen to me. It's not your fault, let it go. We need you here, where you can do things we know you can. Leo accepted his fate, why can't you?", Roderick stopped wailing, crying quietly into the air between them. He was calming down now, his breathing come to his broad barrel chest easier. He shuddered another gasp before he pulled Elys back in to his arms,"I-I'll try. I'll try for you. I'll try for Leo. I'll try my best.", there was a knock downstairs in the main building. They both jerked their heads to the noise,"I'll go get it, Rick. Stay put, alright?", she shifted from him, his arms sliding to his sides as his tears still slipped from his cheeks. "Terrance, come on up.",
"Is he alright?"
"Just come on.", the footsteps got louder and before Roderick knew it his friends were standing in front of him, arms outstretched. "Come here, Teriyaki wants a hug from a good friend.", Roderick smiled, tears still flooding his vision as the three joined in a hug,"That's better."

Why are they sad?
In Childhood
"Come on, Isaac! Come out from your hiding place already, or we'll leave!"
A small, grey kalon emerged from the shadows. He was smiling triumphantly, having won this game of hide and seek. Although he was full of pride, he saw his peers, and they definitely were not amused in the slightest.
"What's wrong?"
"We've decided we don't wanna play with you anymore. You always hide in the dark spots, and everybody knows your weird fur helps you. It's not fair to us with normal fur!"
"Yeah, what even is up with that anyways? Your tail is so small you can just sit and your shine is hidden, while we have normal tails to deal with."
"We don't wanna hang out with someone so odd looking anyways. Go find someone else to play with, Isaac."
It was early June. Summer had a firm grasp on the weather, and sunlight beat on anything and everything below. Today, Isaac and his friends were playing hide and seek in the school yard. On this same day, Isaac begins to develop self-consciousness.
In Later Years
The base of her fur was white like mine, but painted with light, orange hues that mixed with the canvas like a creamsicle's core rather than bespeckled with an ashy grey akin to my own coat. Her eyes were an emerald green, and gleamed as she gazed into the pond's clear waters. A smile strung about her face, one so lovely I became enamored in its enchanting allure.
I came about this park when I needed to think. This section is used for meditation, reading, and sleeping, away from the commotion of the children and events. I liked to come here to think about things and watch the fish; lately I've been coming to think about the girl who's been coming to watch the fish. She came about suddenly during an April shower, holding an aquamarine umbrella with a pearly ribbon tied to its handle.
It was mid October now. The leaves were still in the process of leaving their branches, and the grasses still had hints of green. Sunlight casually glazed across the pond's still waters.
The girl wasn't here today, but that didn't matter. Life had been especially stressful, and I wasn't feeling too well. I set myself where she would have, staring into the waters, watching the fish go about their day... and cried.

How would you cheer them up?
The first time I came around the park I noticed an ashy-colored kalon hanging around the area. He seemed a little suspicious at first, but then I came to that he was just in heavy thought, always staring off into space. In a few weeks I saw him look my way- I felt that prickling feeling you got when you felt someone's eyes on you. When I tried to return his gaze he'd look elsewhere. I found this sweet, and didn't really mind it; he was quite cute himself.
Months rolled on and we never made any contact. Spring's showers became Summer's heat, then came Autumn's breezes. The fish were always there in the pond, going about their little lives.
It was around October when we finally talked. My trip to the pond was stalled by a project I needed to finish after school, and once I completed it I made my way to the park in a timely pace. The boy was there, as usual- but...?
He was sitting, hunched over with his arms around his knees at the edge of the pond. I quietly walked closer, and heard small weeps come out in breaths. Just behind him, I crouched down and touched his shoulder.
The boy frantically whipped around, and would have fallen straight into the water had I not clung onto his arms. We stared awkwardly at each other for a second, then gave each other come breathing room.
"S-Sorry... I shouldn't have snuck up on you."
"I-It's okay, really..."
There was a pressing silence. I decided to break it.
"So... if you don't mind me asking, but why were you crying...?"
"Oh... it's just, I..."
He curled into himself.
"N-Not a lot of people like how I look... since, you know, we as a species like colorful things, right? Well, I'm not really a peacock, so to say..."
I looked at him a while. Yes, I understood. My own father wasn't the prettiest thing in the world, a muddy blackish-brown being his coat's primary color. But that didn't make my mother love him any less.
"You may not look like a rainbow... but you as a person are. You have potential- why worry about how ugly you look when you could be concerned with how wonderful you can be?"
The two stared into the pond. Among the calico was a melanistic- and it was no different.
