Storry;;He remembered those gentle fingers as they tied the blindfold around him. He could almost feel him smile. That sweet gentle smile that never made Emrys know he wasn’t different. That he couldn’t see a differently colored world. The darkness blocked out his vision, plunging the world into darkness. His ears twitched and he smiles, a giddy feeling in his chest. Paws held up his face and he knew his mentor was making him look at him.
“Go find where you belong, Emrys. Go find your home.”Those words made Emrys want to break down. His mentor believed him. Believed in his goal that he sent oh so long ago. He had nodded and left after receiving one final gift. Then he set off, plunging into the world in order to reach his goal. To find a place where he could himself. Where nobody would question him. That place was something he had wanted to find since he was a kid. When he realized he was different. Brilliant ice-blue eyes gaze out. They appear almost silver in the moonlight. He lightly trended forward, his movements graceful and made him appear as if he was gliding. He slipped along the brush, walking across soft grass that made his footfalls silent. His tail slightly swished behind him. He glanced to the side, watching the water in the lake glitter, reflecting the light from the moon and stars. It appeared as if the lake was the night sky, or that it had stolen a piece of it and held it captive. Emrys smiled sweetly as he slowed just a tad to enjoy the view of the lake a bit more. He inhaled deeply, allowing the scents of wet grass, water, and the heady scent of the earth wash over him. It soothed him. He continued on, but he would never perfect the sight. While everything was enhanced with color, he could see just fine at night, another perk. So instead of hiding his pale eyes behind the old thing, he had it pushed up. Keeping his messy dark hair out of his face. Emrys looked behind him once more before disappearing into the forest around the lake.

His searching allowed him to met so many people. They questioned, and they assumed. Some pitied him, thinking he is blind but he never told them the truth. He let them believe what they wished. He helped as often as he could, most of the time he was the one getting help because so many assumed he was blind. He remembered on in particular. A young child with a soft voice who rarely spoke like him. He had remembered the sun beating down harshly on them all in a hot spell of a day. Emrys never cared. Until he misjudged himself and ran into a young kid, who had scurried silently in front of him before he could pick up the scent or sound of the kid. He was surprised when the kid squeaked out a silent “sorry” and tried to move on, but Emrys stopped them.
“Are you with roses?” He had asked voice hardly above a mumble and raspy with disuse, and his head tilted the side. The scent of the roses washed over him and he heard the young kalon shift, as if scrambling to pick up the things he dropped.
“Yes,” was the tiny reply.
“Do you need help?” “No Sir. I am fine. I didn’t see you there and I am really sorry,” the kid continued, babbling a bit about how sorry he was and how he should have been paying attention.
“Dear child, you are fine. I wish to help,” Emrys silenced him with those words and he felt the child smile. It made him smile. Emrys was helping him carry a bag of flowers, the handles clasped tightly in his jaws so he didn’t drop the cargo. Once they got to the stop, Emrys was surprised when he felt tiny paws on him. A soft thud followed a mumbled “ow”. He frowned, curious about what the child did.
“I hope you will get to see those flowers. They are a thank you gift. You were a big help mister and I am sure you will help more people soon to come!” The kid said wisely.
“Who is the adult here?” Emrys questioned.
His only reply was a giggle and soon the child was urging him to go. Emrys never forgot the kid and of course he soon found what the other kalon had done. A single blue flower was tied to his blind fold and four were held to his sword. He had smiled, knowing he would never forget the child. He never replaced them. He kept them with him as he continued on, watching the world change around him. He went from city to city, forest to forest. He saw a lot of things. The ocean during a sunset. A beautiful sight from the top of a mountain. Yet he never found him home. He just kept on traveling, helping those that accepted his help and allowing others to help him. He knew he made others happy, which made him smile. While he didn’t talk much, he knew his help had made a lasting impact on others. It made him smile.
Emrys was the soft spoken one, who refused to give up. He refused to stop being and he refused to give up on the goal. A goal that even his mentor wanted him to complete and he will, even if it means he travels around the whole world in search of the home he had dreamed about oh so long ago.
