Persephone wasn't born with such a name. Instead, her name had been Avery, but what kind of name was Avery when her life had been similar to the goddess Persephone? She and her mother shared a close bond, but when she had fallen for the wrong guy their bond began to thin out. Persephone was often sent into the forest by her mother, where she thought her daughter would be distracted by things of nature and beauty. Little did her mother know that Persephone took this time to run to her lover's home and there the world stopped moving. She would talk with him for hours and when they napped, she could hear small voices. "Run...Run! Get away child of the earth....Run!" She opened her eyes slightly, a flutter of a wing quickly disappearing. She ignored them - and continued to dream of love. It was one evening that suddenly she awoke, her eyes blurry from her slumber. Her body vibrated, the floor shaking. Floor? more like carriage, in a cage. She yelled for help, and suddenly the movement halted. The backdoors of the carriage opened and revealed her lover, the kalon named Hades.




What she thought would be relief soon was covered with fear. He had kidnapped her! What was he going to do to her? He told her the same sweet words she had heard when they were back in the forest, their love seemingly pure and harmless. As they neared their destination, from the window the ground became grey, the fresh green of her homelands becoming distant. Screeches of crows and things alike kept her awake, her hair shielding her sights of the filthy things. When she arrived, she tried to flee, but quickly Hades grabbed her, pulling her roughly into the grand castle - what looked like to be her home forever.





They were forced to wed, though she had managed to ask for conditions. She would be able to visit her mother land along with her birth-mother every spring and summer, when her favorite flowers bloomed a pretty gold. Here in the wastelands, her flower crown of brights had been replaced with old twigs and glowing moon flowers she had found when exploring. He agreed and finally, they were adjoined by law. Her being wed to such a kalon brought the nickname Persephone, and it stuck with her. She remains in the castle, her life like a ghost. It is only during the warm months that she's able to be 'Avery' again, where her spirit would shine the brightest.
