Rainy Day Story
Ceasar cowered. Underneath the table was the only safe place as lightnight crashed and thunder roared outside; he shuddered as another bolt sent chills through his entire body. The basement offered some comfort but the loud, overwhelming blasts could still be heard from down below, and Ceasar's paranoia didn't do so well with the fuel. He hated getting wet, yes, but he hated the volume and the hazard even more. There was just so much that could go horribly and completely wrong. Knowing his luck, he'd be the one to get struck by lightning and incinerated on the spot.
He whimpered and whined from under the table, hoping perhaps, in some corner of his mind, that if he were persistant enough that the rain would go away. There was that song he'd learned as a child, but it'd never helped one bit either. He shook and trembled underneath the tabletop.
Something delicately moved the tablecloth away for a moment, peering in at the terrified vaiki. His friend Valentia was there, dripping with rain water, and she offered him a small smile. "Come out from under there, Ce." She offered, making a gesture with her claw. "We're in the basement, nothing can get to us down here. The likelihood of flooding today is almost nonexistant."
"Flooding!" Ceasar yelped, bolting upright and unintentionally slamming his head on the table. "I forgot about flooding! Oh no!"
"Hun, come on. I said little to no chance, so come on out of there will you?" Val offered a hand.
After much persuasion, Ceasar did leave the safety of his floral-printed safehouse. Val started up the fireplace to warm up and get the moisture off her pelt, lightly patting the area beside her to invite Ceasar over. He managed a small smile and joined her.
