Reason [Under 100 words]:
For this Kalon, I chose the name Gurun; Indonesian for the word "desert". The reasoning behind my choice is how well the pallet chosen reminds me of- well - the desert! The small strokes of color seem to resemble of grass blades, whilst the pale yellow represents to me the hot sand. The tail is the most significant part in the design, reminiscent of a cactus blooming purple buds in the sunlight. The beautiful, bright white lines dashed throughout the whole design depict the bright sunlight beaming down on it all. This is why I chose the name Gurun.

This name was chosen due to the markings and colouring of this Kalon, appearing to resemble "sunlight filtering through tree leaves", which is the meaning of the Japanese word, 木漏れ日 (komorebi). Ko often pays attention to the small, but beautiful details that the world has to offer, such as the komorebi.

Reason [Under 100 words]: The first thing I thought of when I saw this lovely Kalon's design was eggplants. Aubergine is French for eggplant and has a beautiful pronunciation: obɛʀʒin.

Reason: He has a very young mother. When he was born she was still a teen with the weirdest interests and likes. One of those was Oscar Wilde's book, The picture of Dorian Gray. She was really into that book. She said she connected with the main character on a "deeper level" and the book described her life (It didn't. There's no resemblance. She just wanted it.) The point is - she was re-reading her treasured copy when she got pregnant with Dorian. Of course it was no question to name the child after the protagonist.

Reason: Carnegie was born in the desert, where his mother watched the cacti bloom. She named him for the saguaro cactus (the scientific name being Carnegiea gigantea) for which she had always had fondness; and while she called him "saguaro" in private she introduced him as Carnegie. The cactus was named after a man, "Carnegie" being a Gaelic name meaning "gap in the fort" or "nick". As Carnegie himself has always excelled at finding small secret places to hide he has fulfilled that name as well. (His mother still calls him "saguaro", though he tolerates it from no one else.) Akamu is a Hawaiian form of Adam, and Adam in Hebrew means Earth. Adam was the name of the first human to have been created by God and according to the Bible, God created him from the Earth, hence the twin meanings to the name. Akamu is a religious fellow, who takes pleasure in gardens and all things herbal. He's not the type that shouts loudly about his beliefs, but won't hesitate to quote from the holy book - more so when joking around his hellish friends. He's the calm and sensible one, always the sober one at the drunk bar.

"Unfortunate; ill fated." When viewing this Kalon, I can only really think of the sweaters worn by Asriel and Chara in the game Undertale. Their's is a tale of falling, finding, peace and happiness, and a tragic ending(?).
This Kalon greatly reminds me of that tale and the fond innocence of friendship and family before winding into an unruly and unfortunate one. Though Mallory may struggle and find harmony in their existence, namesakes always manage to hold true somehow.

Reason: 'Boing' is sort of an inside joke with my friends at school. We shout it at each other when someone is down or stressed, and over time just the mention of the word started to remind me of that encouragement. It would be nice to have a little kalon reminder of that encouragement.
