It was dark cold and rainy, the mud beneath my feet gross and ordain. Looking to my scarred hands, I remembered Luna. She was a beautiful mare, but she got away. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was putting her tack on, but something spooked her. The reigns had cut open my palms and she had run off, scared and unwilling to come back. I chased after her, but tripped and fell, injuring my hands more.
Recently though, I had a dream. She was in the forest. Cold, scared, muddy, and wet. In conditions just like these. The dream was a sign. Luna is still alive and she's still out there, alone and scared! I knew I had to continue on, so I trudged through the mud into the forest near my stables. Shivering, I called out.
"Lunaaa!" My voice echoed through the dismal and empty woods. I heard a whinny and ran towards the sound. Without paying attention to my surroundings I kept running. And then I tripped on a tree root and hit my head on a rock, the world around me going black.
When I opened my eyes the rain had stopped, it was warm and sunny. There she stood. A mare in her great and relentless beauty. She was so familiar, but I couldn't place who she was. She stood over me like a gaurdian. She raised her had as if suddenly alert. Who was she?? The name Luna came to mind. LUNA!! I forgot that I had to find her....wait...no I didn't, she was right here! I stood up and hugged her, her warmth inviting. She nuzzled her head into my back, and I smiled. Finally, my baby was found. I felt her warmth envelope me, but for some reason, I still shivered. I shook and my teeth chattered and I didn't know why. The suddenly, Luna knocked my onto my back, and everything went black- again.

My eyes fluttered open, rain flooding my vision. My head throbbed, and I didn't know where I was. A small stream of crimson trailed down my face, but I ignored it. Rubbing my head, I looked around, I found myself shivering in the middle of a forest. Wait--Luna! That's why I was here! I forced myself up and called out again. "Luna!!" I cried. A distant whinny replied. I walked as fast as I could, careful not to trip and fall this time.
"Luna!" I cried again. Another whinny, but much closer. Then I saw her, wet, muddy, and terrified. Just like my dream. When she saw me she approached wearily. She sniffed the wound on my head and snorted. I held out my hand and waited. The scent on my hand must have been familiar, for she jumped excitedly about, and whinnied. Once she calmed down, I took the reigns and led her back to the stables, where I put her blanket and her favorite blue halter on her, and put her into her stable. I filled her trough and water bucket, and headed back to the house, happy that my precious girl had been found.
