how does she deal with being blind?;; Vale is a beautiful young mare with a gentle personality. She wasn't born blind but time gradually made her blind because she has Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU), also known as Moon Blindness or Periodic Ophthalmia. She now has a constant stable companion that helps her when she is in the stable in her stall. When she is out in the pasture she seems perfectly normal. She loves dressage and so when she is out in the pasture she dances to the song in her head. She relies greatly on her sense of hearing and touch which have gotten stronger because of her blindness. She enjoys going on rides though even if she can't see an sometimes her companion, the farm dog named Suki will go out with her.

how does she deal with being blind?;; Sparrow got cancer when she was very young that unfortunately spread to her eyes. Though when she was cured she could still see shapes. But many things spooked her and her blindness would always get worse. So her owners decided it would be better to completely blind her surgically, but before they did, her owners were very devoted to keeping her safe. She was weaned, at 8 months old. Her owners made her, her own pasture with a connected box stall that was completely custom for her. Bark was layed 5 feet around every obstacle in the pasture. 5 foot circles around trees, bark was 5 feet to the fences and anything she could run into. Then Sparrow introduced to a buddy mare, named Escapade, who helped her become desensitized to everything in her pasture and stall. She was brought around her pasture and was aloud to feel all the objects in her pasture. She quickly learned that when her feet hit bark that there was an object close to her and it gave her time to move away or slow down. She is now able to run freely through her pasture without injury. Sparrow will never be ridden out on trails without her buddy mare, but she is however a great broodmare.

how does she deal with being blind?;; Cheryl has actually been in the same place (Red Robin Gypsy Ranch) for so long, since she was adopted as a little filly, and has gotten used to her surroundings, so she can usually find her way around, and also uses her hearing, as that sense was enhanced when she became blind. Even though she can find her way around on her own, she still appreciates it when either her best buddy Phantom or her rider Danica is there to help her around, especially when in unfamiliar surroundings. Cheryl trusts Phantom and Danica completely, but no one else, because when she first came to Red Robin Gypsy Ranch, Phantom was immediatly her best friend, and she could always trust her, and the trust increased thought the years. With Danica, Cheryl just has this feeling deep down inside that Danica is a good human, and that she can trust her, and so far, she's been right. She trusts Danica enough to even be ridden by her, so Cheryl can still be ridden by Danica, but only Danica, as she doesn't trust anybody else.

Toffee is a beautiful girl. She was born blind, but she still loves to play. To manage, Toffee counts on a companion to help lead her around, but if she is alone, she will walk slowly, using her tail or feet to feel for any obstacles in her path. She normally will have a companion to lead her around. Toffee wants to find love but she is worried that if she cannot see the heart of the boy, and how he is inside, that she may find love with the wrong kind of guy. So she counts on her best gal, to tell her what he looks like, how he acts, and how he is around her. Even though she cannot see Toffee doesn't let that put her in a bad mood.

how does she deal with being blind?;; Current doesn't simply deal with being blind - she embraces it. She doesn't care to find out what the world would look like, instead going for feel and sound. She loves standing outside and simply listening to the world, figuring out with minimum evidence what's out on the beach and where the are in an easy few seconds. Emburr, her best friend at the stables, is also blind, and together they like to talk and smell and feel the world instead of see it. She does, however, feel a bit guilty sometimes about her lack of sight - Current loves children and often wants to feel them on her back, but she's a bit too unstable and jerky to actually be a riding horse. Instead, she settles for hugs, nose kisses, and the feel of people's hair in her lips.
