Extra?; Zivu sighed as he watched the snow fall outside the window. He saw flashed of Minnie's red and white striped fur, and his heart skipped a beat. You might as well stop, he told it. She's as good as rejected us.

'A Peppermint Hot Cocoa, please!' Minnie's sparkling eyes stared into Zivu's. He'd just started working at Jingle, a chic modern cafe, and Minnie- whom he had a massive crush on- was here already! 'Coming right up!' he smiled. When he turned around, calmly and cooly, he couldn't resist a massive grin. This was his chance! He plopped a special heart-shaped candy cane- hint hint- into Minnie's cocoa, and turned around again to present it to her. 'Here you go!' he said, smiling his most charming smile. A thud resounded, and both Minnie and Zivu looked to see the whole queue- suspiciously all heavy-makeup-wearing girls- faint with a collective dreamy sigh. Minnie turned back to the counter, a now-mischevious sparkle in her eyes. 'Better revive your fan club!' she said teasingly, before picking up her cocoa and skirting the line of unconscious bodies to the door.
'So you're not a part of my fan club?' Zivu asked, with a galloping heart.
Minnie stopped. She wasn't dumb- she recognized the hidden question there. Turning, she answered, 'You're a really great guy, but I don't like you in that way. Or anyone, for that matter.' Smiling apologetically, she walked out the door.
The bell jingled above, in time with the breaking of Zivu's heart.

The bell kept ringing, and Zivu realized that it was still ringing- in real life. His disbelieving eyes took in a candy-cane-patterned, blue-eyed pup. Desperately, he looked around for someone, anyone, but the cafe was empty save for him and Minnie. He mentally sighed, and turned forward with a very fake smile plastered on his face. 'What would you like?' he asked tonelessly.
Minnie seemed a bit hurt, but she replied, 'A peppermint hot cocoa, please.'
Zivu nodded curtly, and turned to busy himself at the bench. He was painfully aware of Minnie's eyes on him, and the heat rose under his fur. Moving almost robotically, he placed the finished cocoa on the counter.
Minnie's paw wrapped around the cup- and his paw. 'Zivu?' she asked, tilting her head to look at him. 'Are you okay?'
The dam broke. Zivu's face contorted, and he replied, 'No! I'm obviously not okay! Do I look okay to you? Do I? And of course you have to be the person to ask! You broke my heart in the first place you know! And then you come back and act like nothing's wrong! You're the reason I.. I..'
Minnie's face went from confused, to shocked, to sad. 'Oh.' she said.
Zivu felt himself physically deflate. All the adrenalin and emotions that had given him that lighting burst of rage had fled as quicky as it came. He felt a bit pathetic, but he couldn't really stay angry at her. 'Oh.' he agreed helplessly.
Minnie suddenly snatched her cup and started walking briskly away. Zivu couldn't help but feel disappointed. What were you expecting? he chided his heart, A kiss?
Then, just as suddenly, Minnie turned and marched back to him. Putting down her cup, she stuck out her paw.
Zivu must have look extremely confused, because she added, 'Um.. can we still be friends? I'd like that... I mean, I haven't apologized properly, and I'm so so sorry for not wanting a boyfriend, and... ugh, now I feel so horrible and manipulative and-'
Zivu put his paw over hers, and smiled genuinely at her. Minnie just couldn't lie, and he could tell she was as sad about it as he was.
'We can be friends.' he said, and Minnie's smile almost made up for the hurt she caused.
As if she had read his mind, she leaned closer and whispered, 'I'm gonna make it up to you. You'll see. I might not .. um, like like you, but hopefully I can make you not regret this!'
Zivu smiled wider. Now that he thought about it, he'd rather have Minnie as a happy friend than an uncomfortable girlfriend. His eyes flicked to one of the many Christmas quote-pictures that adorned the wall.
