Halloween Adventure:
Normally, Sterling was a very well-behaved and docile stallion. He wouldn't even think of disobeying a direct command from his master.
But the lights - Oh, those gleaming, twinkling yellow lights..If he twisted his head the right way, he could catch a glimpse of them from his stall.
They were scattered all around the master's home, like little fallen stars keeping away the dark spirits with their illuminating glow.
The curious foal that remained in Sterling egged him on in his escape. Surely the master wouldn't mind if he went out for a short, midnight walk, right..?
He served him well in pulling the master's small niece around in a little cart alongside his Clydesdale friends. He loved to hear her shrieks of delight as they toured the farm together. The sound of her laughter filled his mind with giddiness and excitement. He focused on the task at hand: Open the stall door. Sterling had practiced opening the latch in the past with his fangs (When the master wasn't looking, of course) and his unlocking skills didn't fail him.
Soon he was bounding outside in the cool, night air. The breeze ruffled his mane as he cantered towards the alluring lights. He could almost feel them beckon to him!
His excitement faded away as he drew closer. He came to a sudden stop as he beheld the ghastly sight that awaited him.
Creatures with terrible teeth and wicked faces - lots of them - were scattered around the house. Their faces curled into menacing grins, light flickering inside their huge, gaping maws that looked like they could swallow you whole!
Fear froze him to his place. The beasts were tricking him to go closer! Their lights..They seemed so bright and cheery from afar, when in fact they were meant to lead you astray so the monsters could have fresh meat to feast on.
What about the master? He could be in danger! They might try to attack him! No..Sterling needed to leave now, as fast as he could, before they tried attacking him!
Rushing back to his stall faster than he'd ever galloped in his life, Sterling was soon in the comfort of his beloved stable again.
He couldn't get any sleep that night..His mind was haunted by the image of those despicable beasts with twisted expressions and haunting lights..
After that excursion, Sterling never approached another pumpkin ever again, in fear of seeing a cruel, cold face glowing with malice staring right back, into his soul..
