<3 baby
Okay, I'm too angry to write this right now. I already wrote her first saddle, but apparently it didn't save, so I have to re-write the entire thing again.
First Touch -
I sat in the foaling stall while Neasa paced around, shivering every now and then. This was her first baby, so I wanted to be there to make sure it went perfectly. Its been 5 hours already, and I can feel my eyes slowly getting heavier. I tried to stifle a yawn, but before I knew it I was on my side, asleep. I shifted as I felt something wet on my face. I opened my eyes to find myself face to face with a teeny tiny little nera. I sat up and looked at Neasa who was curled into the corner, sleeping peacefully. I checked the baby over and was delighted to find it was a cute little girl. I tried not to squeal as the tiny baby crawled into my lap and went to sleep, her ears twitching every now and then as she had little baby neravontii dreams. "Veronika." I said, as I had decided her name. I ran my hand down her back gently as she made a quiet gurbling noise.
First saddle -
I stroked Veronika's neck, trying to sooth the nervous, young nera who was close to panicking. She could tell something was "wrong". Today was the first time she was gonna be saddled. I fed her a treat then gently nudged her over towards the saddle lying on the ground. She was visibly shaking as she sniffed it and pawed at it. Then suddenly she bit the saddle, and sat down. She stopped shaking, I think she figured out that saddle wasn't gonna bite back. I let her relax for a minute before I had her stand. I placed the saddle on her back and cinched her up, then watched her. She turned her head to sniff at the saddle but after that seemed to ignore its existance. I patted her neck, praising her for her good behavior then led her around for awhile.
first ride -
I smiled asa I watched Veronika do laps in the arena, switching between an easy trot and a full blown gallop. She hadn't noticed me yet, so I stayed quiet and just watched the yearling do her thing. Suddenly she stopped, her head swinging in my direction. Her ears twitched as she jogged over and nuzzled me. I rubbed her face and giggled "Hello to you, too, Veronika." I glanced at her saddle, noticing that it had stayed on nice and tight during Veronika's laps. "Hmm.... I think you're old enough now... Do you wanna?" She tilted her head to the side curiously, then watched me as I climbed onto the saddle. Without any directions to do so, she started walking around the arena. I smiled and patted her neck. "Next time, wait for me to say go, okay?" I chuckled. We worked for 40 minutes before I got off, unsaddled her and released her to her pasture.
