~Silverpelt~ wrote:owner: ~silverpelt~
name: ettietta
name meaning: little star
nick name: ettie
reason for name: the little solo marking on her abdomen reminded me of a star. little coulds from the fact she's under the 15 which is the average range, that and she'd be smallest purebreed tekes among my tekes cx
gender: mare
age: 6 years
height: 14.3hh
likes: foals, change
diskikes: horses that are cruel or neglect foals, being coddled or underestimated
strengths: doing things despite being scared
weakness: acting on impulse
personality: don't let her innocent, soft looks fool you, she's got a fire in her and she's not afraid to burn you. she's brave and confident, she don't have an insecurely in sight, as least that she'd admit to you. she's as bold as her colors, she does have a softer kinder side but it's mostly drowned out my her boldness.
how i earned my colors: my mother grooms my head, I pull away, she smiles a bit "you already think you're grow up don't you?" she purrs amused. "I don't wanna be treated like a foal any more mom! I have take care of myself!" I say puffing out my chest, she laughs "whatever you say my ettie" she says grooming my ear one last time before she walks back toward the herd. Tradition is was a big deal in our herds. as foal we were all given blank, bland gray strings with a single colored bead, a different color for each horse. at the age of four we leave our herds to go and be trained, and most importantly get our final string and beads! these set will stay with us for the rest of our lifes, they get us the color and beads based off something about us. I personally always hoped for a bright red string with gold beads. I wanted the red because it meant brave, the golden beads are just because I love the color gold. today was the day though that, that dream may become a reality. they had always kicked out most of my half brothers from my herd and now it was time for me to leave. my excitement drowns out the bitter-sweetness of the event, tomorrow I would feel the pain of leaving this life behind but today I would feel the joys of new beginnings. the owner daughter, miss. laney as my mother calls her, walk in and puts a halter over my head and lead me out of the pen. I stare at each one of the pens I pass staring at the various teke that seem to decorate the fields. there were currently three herd here. though that number was ever growing at the fact they tend to keep most of us, in a way I'm glad and not glad for. I'd miss my family and my soon to be friends but there's hardly new teke or people around here. click, snap. my thoughts rush back to reality at the sound of my halter being removed. I turn my head to find the I'm now in the four-year-old pen, this is where all of as go from here they will decide if they will sell or keep us. I turn head away toward where the other tekes are. as I head over to them I catch a glimpse of a brown blotch in the forest. oh no, he didn't. I sneak over toward the fence and quickly jumps it before I run into the woods that surround my ranch, diaspearing into the shadows. mentally tracking down his path. "Matunaaga!" I call out to the woods, it's no use for him to hide I know he's here and he knows I wouldn't be happy if he doesn't answer me. "your a little bit close to the farm to be yelling my name like that" matunaaga warns coming out the shadows. I lower my eyebrows I hate it when he scold me. honestly, I think this six-year-old mature stuff get to his head somethings. he is only 2 years older than me after all. "Says the teke that decided they were going to go so close to the ranch! What were you thinking!?" If he was thinking I mentally add on as scold him myself, he smirks a little. "How could I miss you going into the wild for the first time. how does it feel to be among your own age?" He asks shaking out his scruffy mane, I always find it strange that he has a mane and that he doesn't have a string on him, I mean he told me the story of how he ran away and why he must stay in hiding. But that still weird to me. "I wouldn't know I was too busy making sure you didn't get caught! if they find you, you know they are are going to hand you over to them!" I retort "I'll be fine Ettie, I can take care of myself" he reassures "But you can't fight a human can't you?" I counter "well not really..." he says "exactly" I riposte. our agreement is cut off by the sound of horse's squeal. me and Matunaaga's heads turn toward the sound. "You heard that right?" I ask he nods, within an instant we both head towards the source of the sound, which was one of the foals that had gotten lost. the poor thing was stuck on a ledge high up above us. just out of easy reach. "Wait where you are I'm going to come up and get you down from there." I say the colt nods shaking in fear, Matunaaga looks over at me suspiciously. "I?" he echos, "Yes I want you to stay down here, if something happens to me at least you can stay safe to rescue him" Matunaaga nods and stand a little taller. "Be careful alright? your still growing" He asks, I nod to him before heading up the mountain-side. I quickly make my way up hill with Matunaaga's careful eye on me.
art: (need to scan it cx)
they put the blue string to symbolize her seeming perfect calm cover. the black beads around the blue is for the fact that's though she's calm she isn't afriad to be bold and frighting. how danger is embedded in her kindness.
