About Helios:
Helios is named after the young Greek god of the Sun. To match his name, he has a quite sunny disposition and he's rarely ever upset. He is often used to teach beginners how to ride since he's very willing and well behaved, especially when it comes to younger kids. When an advanced rider is on him, he tends to be pretty fast, since he loves to go, but he still keeps his manners in check for the most part. His speed is still to his advantage though because he's in traing to become a show jumper. He can currently jump 4'0", but he still knocks the higher jumps down from time to time since he's still learning. After jumps, sometimes he gets excited and will try to bolt a little bit out of excitement, but as long as his rider sits back, he will obey them and slow down after a few steps. He's been taken to one show before just to try schooling him around so many other horses in an unfamiliar place. There we learned one thing; he's terrified of trailers. He was okay getting on since it was bright outside in the morning and the trailer was well lit, but when it came time to leave the show, he refused to get into the trailer since it was starting to get dark and there were lots of shadows inside. We tried every kind of food we had on hand, but nothing worked to bribe him into stepping on to the trailer. He simply did not want any part of it. After half an hour, we had one last idea; flashlights. From our safety kit in the back of the truck, we pulled out a small flashlight and brought it to the trailer entrance. I pushed the button on the side and the light flickered on, immediately illuminating the inside of the trailer. By having two people leading him, one on each side, Helios managed to finally get into the trailer and we were finally able to take him and the other horses home safely.
