Username;; Shimmering Phoenix
Name;; Rust
Gender;; Male
Personality;; Rust, especially as an adolescent/child, is an incredibly awkward individual and is often a nervous wreck. He generally dislikes risks, especially before Truffle came into his life.
When she did, however, his bolder colors began to emerge. He was still nervous, of course, but it started to ebb away. He began to enjoy life to the fullest, and he adored Truffle for showing that to him.
In exchange for the new perspective, Rust showed Truffle the many joys of learning and reading novels, and the two would sometimes stay inside during a rainy day reading an excellent book.
(Although Truffle particularly loved to splash around in the rain. Rust never understood why.)
Quirks;;Rust has the slightest British accent to his speech, and nobody knows where it came from.
How they feel about being shortest;;"Sh-shortest?" sputtered Rust, his eyes narrowing in frustration. "I'm not
that short, Truffle!" Blood rushed to his face, barely visible from under all of that fur, but visible nonetheless.
Truffle giggled, her eyes sparkling. "You're tiny!" she said with a sly grin. "Microscopic!"
A quiet snarl ripped through Rust's bared teeth. "Watch it," he snapped, his bright optics burning in their sockets. "I'm just slightly below average, okay? Besides, I may have an enormous growth spurt someday."
Truffle eyed him mischievously. "I do believe you're correct. Someday, you shall be towering over every creature in existence, isn't that right?" exclaimed the scribble sarcastically. "I'm simply trembling with sheer terror."
Rust lunged forward to rake Truffle's back with his stubby claws. She screeched and tumbled out of the way, quickly orienting herself. Rust beamed triumphantly, standing as tall as his small legs would allow. "That'll teach you not to make snide remarks!" he said with a smirk.
Truffle brushed off the dust from her thick fur, her teeth bared menacingly. "Pathetic attempt, Rusty. You couldn't hurt a fly even if you tried!"
Rust flinched at Truffle's stinging comment, quickly blinking away slow-forming tears. The pet name didn't help either.
Truffle, noticing the sudden change in his emotions, sidled up to Rust with an apologetic look on her face.
"Aw, you know I didn't mean it like that," she said with a playful nudge. "You're one of the strongest, most bravest scribbles I know. C'mon, let's go exploring!"
Rust offered a small grin. "Alright."
- Rust is insecure about his height, although he always tries to hide it.
- Sometimes he slips up, similarly to the previous situation.

Rust sprinted after Truffle, his short legs burning with exhaustion. "Wait for me!" he cried out breathlessly to his companion. "I'm kind of... short."
Truffle halted to a complete stop and spun around to face Rust, amusement flashing over her teenage features. "Hun, you're very short," she corrected with a playful wink. "Anyway, we're almost there. Can't you keep up with me for just a short while more?"
Rust inhaled shakily and nodded, withholding a maddened groan. "This better be good," he mumbled in reply.
Truffle snorted at his comment and began to gracefully leap through the forest again, her developing legs easily carrying her lithe body. Rust heaved a sigh and scrambled clumsily after her, his eyes gleaming with irritation.
โจ 30 Minutes Later โฆTruffle skidded to a stop ahead of Rust, an awed smile bursting across her face. "Wow," she breathed.
Rust slid quickly next to her. "Oh..." he whispered, his eyes scanning the terrain below them. A shudder rippled through his body as fright seemed to swallow him whole.
A vast array of waterfalls and rivers stood below the rigid cliff Truffle and Rust were sitting upon. The stones that made up the channels, instead of being sharp and jagged like most rocks, were smooth and appeared to be slick to the touch. The mid-day rays shone down brilliantly on the crystal-clear waters, creating colorful rainbows in the spraying mist. Needless to say, it was absolutely gorgeous.
"Truffle!" hissed Rust, his eyes wide with terror. "You're not one to go to places for the scenery. Why are we h-here?"
Truffle was also shaking, but not due to alarm. She was trembling with joy. "Oh it's gorgeous, isn't it?" she whispered in reply, ignoring Rust's statement. "I bet the other scribbles are going to adore it just as much as we do."
"We?" barked Rust, outraged in spite of himself. "Other scribbles? Truffle what is going on?"
The tan scribble gazed back at Rust calmly, her gaze steady and sure. "We're organizing a party, duh. We haven't had one in
so long! Anyways, I've heard absolutely amazing things about this place. It's perfectly safe to slide down the stone next to the waterfalls, can you believe it?" Her voice was edged with anticipation, her emerald eyes sometimes darting to the gorgeous waters nearby. Rust gaped in disbelief at his best friend.
"Surely that cannot be true. Truffle, why don't we go back home and throw a party at your cottage?" Rust suggested.
"You have a lovely backyard and-"
"No, Rust. This place is stunning, and I'm sure everyone else will have tremendous fun," Truffle interrupted.
"It's decided. Who shall we invite?"
Rust crept backwards from the ledge and buried his muzzle in his paws. "
Nope, nope, nope!" he thought to himself.

Part 2Rust slid one of his claws under the flap of the damp envelope. The thin layer of glue holding the flap closed had all but dissipated, allowing Rust to open the letter with tremendous ease. "It was a miracle that the contents didn't fall out..." muttered the young adult as he pulled out a wrinkled note.

A lump formed in Rust's throat. "Sh-She wrote me a note. She's forgiven me," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion.
Suddenly, the russet-colored scribble ripped a piece of yellow parchment from his notebook and began to scrawl sloppily, his pen flying.

Dear Truffle,
Now that I've finished my 2nd year of college at Harvard University, I've decided to take a year-long break and accompany you on your travels.
That is, if you wouldn't mind my presence. I pray that you remain at the same spot long enough for you to receive my urgent message. Respond A.S.A.P!
Your best friend,

Part 3
Rust awaited Truffle's next letter anxoiusly, often checking the mailbox multiple times a day."She probably hasn't recieved it yet," He scolded himself. "Much less sent a reply."
Two months later, Rust was beginning to lose hope. Every day he eagerly peeked into the mailbox, dismayed to find it completely and utterly empty. Depression began to grip his fragile minde once more.
However, one dreadfully stormy day in August, it came. Rust's heart almost stopped as he pulled out the yellowed, water-stained envelope. His eyes burned with joyful tears as he ran back into his house.
The scribble excitedly ripped open the thin envelope, snatching the crumpled note out instantanously.

Meet me at the Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta, GA, at 8/25/15. I'll be at the massive dinosaur skeleton at around noon.
A grand adventure awaits, Rust.
Rust breathed shakily, his limbs trembling with excitement and terror. The message had seemed so vague. Was it truly even Truffle?
It had to be. The way her letters curved femininely, the excessive use of quotes. She was a cryptic creature, it was just her nature.
"Why am I doing this?" Rust said aloud with closed eyes. "This is complete insanity."
Suddenly, a thought hit him like a savage blow. "I love her..." he whispered, and he knew it was so.

The 2nd extra is composed of three parts, all scattered throughout the entry.
It tells a short segment of Truffle and Rust's young adult lives. You should be able to roughly piece together the story using context clues.
The 1st and 3rd extras are self-explanatory.
