TRAINING

Postby KathrynKat » Tue Jul 28, 2015 4:34 pm

First Touch wrote: It was a nice summer morning, and felt a perfect day to take ZeKorra for a ride.
We dashed into the forest and out into the same field I had found Sassy. We already been riding for an hour
through the forest and chasing butterflies and birds around the field. So I unsaddled ZeKorra, and let her roam.
She took off to play
in the river, but I trusted her to return when she was ready, and I didn't mind chilling for a couple hours.

It turned out that I had fallen asleep for over an hour using the saddle as a pillow. I woke to being poked on
the nose. I opened my eyes to not only ZeKorra, but another in my face, and all I saw was a bright yellow/orange face.
The neravontii's sockets were a deep purple like ZeKorra's coat.
I reached out above me and scratched the neravontii's chin. The Nera backed up, and I got up to check out ZeKorra's new
friend she dragged along on her return. Both were soaked.

I had checked out the nera, and she is a mare and almost an opposite but looked alike at the same time. Seems
ZeKorra and this mare had bonded well, and she seems to be a little relaxed around me. I pet the mare
more before slipping a halter on her. I saddled ZeKorra, when she dried up a bit, and we rode home with the new
lovely mare. I was really excited to take a lovely mare home that'll be ZeKorra's new best friend.

First Saddle wrote: I had already come up with a name for the lovely mare. I walked over to the mare's
stall and called out her name "here Coraline, do you like chicken legs?"
She moved her ears upwards, and move towards the door and took it and nuzzled my shoulder after finishing.
That didn't take her long to eat. I stroked her under the jaw, and around her ears. I then slipped a halter on
her and lead her to the round pen.

All of the tack was already out there as well as a lunging rope. I removed the lead, and replaced it with the
lunging rope. I then started to break the mare more, and even started to teach her the signals and commands.
Half an hour of training, so I decided to try the tack. I replaced the lunging rope with the lead, and tied her
to the fence. I then picked up the saddle and stepped onto a stool to place the saddle on her back.
She quickly turned to check out the weight on her back, and mistakenly, knocking me to my butt.
I got up and dusted off the dirt, then pushed her face away, and fastened the saddle to her back.

I finally finished that, now to get this bridle on her. I move the halter and it still on her neck so she can't get away.
I slipped it on her an she bumped me to the ground then snorted. I got up and dusted once again, then
finished getting it on her. I don't know if she is just trying to show off, but not going to work in front of ZeKorra.
ZeKorra was keeping an ear on Coraline.

First Ride wrote: I had gotten all the tack taken care of and already started on having her run laps around the
pen to get the feel of the saddle. I finally called her to the center and put weight into the stirrup and bent over
her back and rubbed the other side moving the stirrup around. I repeated this a few times before finally actually mounting.

I sat on her back and moved around in the saddle and touched her rump, her ears, and my toes/stirrups.
I sat tall, and straight, then commanded her to a walk. She suddenly started to kick around. I spotted
ZeKorra cautious, but she stood and just kept an ear.

After about 5 minutes, Coraline was settled, and allowed me to steer her some and give commands.
We rode for about half an hour then took off for a ride in the forest, with ZeKorra following beside. It was
a great ride, for couple hours, but I was riding ZeKorra back. Yeah, Coraline decided to rear when she saw a snake
and couldn't stay calm when I remounted her so I just lead her back riding ZeKorra bareback home.
