First Touch
"I woke up early in the morning, eager to meet my new mare. A friend had decided to gift her to me and I was excited to start working on some fancy tack and such, knowing that the female's beauty would be all the inspiration I needed. I rushed outside as I heard a truck pulling into the drive way and as soon as it slowed I jumped up on the back of the trailer and peered in. A stunning dark purple near splattered with white in the most beautiful and intricate patterns stared back at me. I was almost giddy with anticipation, quickly unlocking the door and coaxing the girl closer. I had been told she loved sweet treats, and I intended to use that to my advantage. No animal could resist the deliciousness of the dried papaya, and I had a satchel full hung over my shoulder. I grabbed a handful and held them out to her, talking softly. She began to walk over and tripped over her own feet a few times on the way, seeming confused yet cheerful. I chuckled as she gobbled the treats down, almost taking my hand with her. I calmed myself and reached my palm out, whispering sweet nothings to her. She gently pressed her forehead against my palm, and time stood still for but a moment. Then she cranned her neck down and plopped a drool spattered muzzle into me satchel, gobbling up almost half the bag in a matter of seconds. I shooed her out and laughed as she smiled at me, bright orange stains all over her teeth. Snapping on the lead I brought her out and settled her into her stall, thanking the truck driver as she drove off in a hurry."

Firt Saddle
"It didnt take long for Milkyway to relax and settle into her new home. Though a tad ditzy she seemed to get along fine with the others, and had even made friends with the local barn cats. I walked out late afternoon, knowing she preferred to sleep through most of the day, with her new tack draped over my shoulder. I had put together something very sturdy yet beautiful, all shimmering metals and gems, a beautiful splatter of black and white. It took quite some time to put together and hand craft each piece, but I was sure she would love it as much as I did. I dropped the tack on the ground by the loading post, calling out to her fro quite some time before she actually heard me. I assumed she was going deaf, which didnt really worry me all that much considering how much the other neras seemed to enjoy her presence and take care of her. Perhaps it was her small size, or kitten-like playfulness that they loved so much? She seemed to skip like a child as she rushed over to me, nosing me over for more treats. I laughed and tossed a few in the air, watching as she jumped up and pounced on them like a cat with a mouse. Coaxing her back over to the post, I tied her to the bar and laid the tack out in front of her. She spent some time playing with the straps but seemed very pleased with the whole set up. Grinning, I pulled the blanket onto her back. She was calm and happy, and I felt pretty good about loading up the saddle next. It was heavy due to it's sturdiness and thick leather, but she held well and didnt mind it one bit. I situated the rest of the tack and finished with all the little clips and snaps before attempting the bridle. I knew she was a little weird with her nose and lips being touched, so I gave her a simple tie on bridle that slipped easily over her muzzle and pinned through the corners of her lips with a flat, thin bridge. It worked thankfully, and it took her a moment before realizing what I had done. She tossed her head, scratching at the bit, but after a while of realizing it didnt actually hurt she stilled and let me do what I wanted to do. I praised her and slipped a through treats through her bit, nuzzling her velvety hide. When everything was in place I led her around the ring, snapping at her when she rubbed at the tack and praising her when she made a turn or followed my pace and movements correctly. She was a fast learner, despite her oddness, and by nightfall I felt secure in my ability to train and even ride her."
