Dear Diary,
Today is the day that I get to pick up my new horse for the Mustang Makeover challenge being put on by the Cottonwood Horse Ranch a few towns over! I am so excited. I’ve been waiting for today to come for the last three weeks! Vesta, Elsi, and Aster are all very happy that the day has finally come because I’ve been annoying them a lot apparently. I can’t help it though. I’m just sooo excited. It is 6 am here so I still have to wait a few hours before I can go pick my Mustang up. I don’t know if it is a Mare or a Stallion yet, but I don’t mind either way. I can’t wait to get to know my new baby and train them. It will be a lot of work, I’m sure, but it will also be a lot of fun. Well, I can hear Elsi shouting that it’s time to get the Stable Chores done so I have to sign off for now. I’ll be sure to write all about my Mustang when I get home!

Dear Diary,
I’m back! My mustang is a beautiful mare. She has leopard appaloosa markings on a blue roan base. She is very skittish around males. I am looking forward to working with her and gaining her trust. I have decided to name her Destiny. She seems really sweet and I am just so excited to get to know her better. Anyway, I am going to go start working with Destiny.

The brown-haired girl steps out of the truck, Deodatus staying in the drivers’ seat of the truck to wait for her. She had asked him to come along to drive and look her Mustang over before they went home. She walked up to the coral, looking at the hundreds of untrained Mustangs. The woman she talked to on the phone walks over to her.
“Good, you made it. Your new mare is right over here.” she leads her to a separated area of the coral where a beautiful Mustang was pacing around. She was blue roan with leopard appaloosa markings. Laloxi smiles widely, watching her.
“She’s beautiful.” Laloxi says, awestruck.
“I’m glad you like her. Here is a rope for you to get her into your horse trailer. Take good care of her.”
“I will, thank you.” Laloxi accepts the rope and gestures to Deodatus to bring the truck over. He starts the truck up again and backs up to the coral gate. Laloxi opens the gate and carefully approaches the mare. She paws at the ground and shies away from her, pulling her head up and away. Laloxi reaches one hand out towards the skittish mare and gently ties the rope around her neck, the mare having nowhere else to back up to. She blows air out of her nose and tries to break away from the rope, but Laloxi keeps a firm grip on the rope and continues to drag her towards the gate. The mare begrudgingly follows behind her when she realizes she won’t break away. Laloxi struggles to get her to go into the horse trailer but after a few minutes of trying, the mare finally goes inside. She drops the rope and shuts the trailer doors. Deodatus comes over to her and opens the side door, planning on going in to look her over. A sharp whinny is heard from inside and the doors rattle as she backs into them, away from Deodatus.
“Come back out, I don’t think she likes you.” Laloxi calls and he comes back out, closing the door behind him.
“She seems to be afraid of males. Anyway, let’s get her back to the stables so you can let her start to get used to her new home.”
Laloxi nods and they get back into the truck and drive back to Silver Shadows Stables.
