General Info
Chrysaora Basilisk are the prevalent equine creatures that inhabit the world Lucent. They roam by the hundreds, using their unique hooves to score the uneven rock and track down their most vital source of nourishment; evil. The relationship between Chrysaora and humans is a complex one. Chrysaora vocalize like horses, but are also thought to have a syrinx much like birds do and have been recorded displaying a variety of sharp, avian sounds. Their eyes layer over with a dark, murky black until their normal eye color pierces through in a great ball of electric light, radiating toward their victim's open eyes and paralyzing them. The Glare is able to stop both human and creature, and after a few days, unique to other forms of basilisk, the paralyzed being transforms into a sea nettle.

Orphan Rescue Event wrote:The story goes like this;
A human trapper had stolen many chrysaora foals and was selling them in a underground black market. A organization of people stopped him and rescued the foals, and are now trying to adopt them out. Each of the foals needs an experienced owner to love and raise them. We're counting on you, the members of the chry community, to give these babes a second chance at life.

The first I heard of this black market scandal, was after a few people in the ranches/stables around mine started asking people to help with a rescue round up.
Volunteering instantly I wasn't prepared for what greeted us what sort of monster would pry a foal away from its mother?? It was disheartening to see the condition most of the foals were in, a majority were huddled together in a corner while the ones who were ground ridden, laid miserable in the dirt. Once the pen was emptied and the foals were heading to the rescue center, I had a feeling we were missing something.
Turning around to look back in the pen, I saw a what I had assumed to be a small dirt bump, Boy was i wrong. Rushing over when i saw movement, it turned out this poor colt had been coated in mud that made him blend in with his surroundings and everyone had overlooked him. Unable to get hold of the rescue centre, an authority member still on the scene suggested i take him home to my stables til i could take further action.
So i decided to keep the foal, and named him Kuyani.

Kuyani proved to be a tough nut to crack, but what did i expect , after the trauma he had been through? After deciding to house him next to a stall of my own young chrys, I had hope it would help him see that i wasn't cruel or dangerous from the others actions as they had learnt from their own mothers.
After caring for him for several weeks, I noticed the healthy weight gain from the relucant bottle feeds, and his quiet head shy, then threatening behavior when he tried to protect himself.
Entering his stall regularly. I stayed to the side , never pressuring him by going into his space and sat still in the hay. My hand outstretched so he could sniff at it, if he wished. Once he had sniffed my hand and stayed close to me, i would praise him everytime, and slowly worked towards stroking his cheek and neck, during that time i would show him a halter and place it loose over his nose if he accepted it (I can tell you i earned a good horn prod or two when he didn't). Persistence paid off, every time i went into the stalls to clear out the others, i'd hear him making a ruckus til i went to his stall to give him cuddles and get little ear munchies in return (ouchie but cute) .

It's been a few months since i adopted Kuyani and the past few days had been rough due to weaning.
He showed a lot of interest in what the others were eating out in the field, but stuck to the bottle like glue. Leaning on the door to his stall after a few days of the cold shoulder, i held food in my palm trying the old hand approach tactic. Watching as he nosed under my hand then sniff the food, he lipped at it out of curiosity. Laughing quietly at the small faces he pulled each time he touched it, i praised him proudly as he finally took a nibble and emptied my palm, refilling it til he had enough.
Rubbing behind his ears, which had become his favourite itch spot he let out a happy snicker.

It's been a year since mama two leg's saved me,
Even though she doesn't seem to understand the sounds i make at her, i think she gets that i am very happy here.
I like playing with the older chrysaora's and showing them all how tough I am, even though i do get in trouble if i get too rough.
My fondest memory with mama two legs is the first day she took me into the the big field and took that horrible face hugger off my head and let me run free, I had run to the end of the field and back bucking around happily , making my happy chirps and snickers. Before finding the biggest puddle and decided to try bathing myself (mama two legs ..didn't look happy about that). So i made her join in and shoved her in with my nose, earning ..that weird noise that sounded like a playful snicker?
The oddest thing i've seen so far, is face huggers with loops that steer the older chry's around, while mama two legs sit on there backs. I feel like this would make mine and mama two legs bond stronger than it already is one day.
Today I had a special treat, i got to go into the field with mama, and laid by her side while we looked at the stars, spotting a flying one i heard you could make wishes , and i wished ..that i'd never have to leave this place.
