Chrysaora Basilisks #234 | Orphan Rescue Event

Postby noreptiles_ » Sat Jul 11, 2015 8:46 am

General Info
Chrysaora Basilisk are the prevalent equine creatures that inhabit the world Lucent. They roam by the hundreds, using their unique hooves to score the uneven rock and track down their most vital source of nourishment; evil. The relationship between Chrysaora and humans is a complex one. Chrysaora vocalize like horses, but are also thought to have a syrinx much like birds do and have been recorded displaying a variety of sharp, avian sounds. Their eyes layer over with a dark, murky black until their normal eye color pierces through in a great ball of electric light, radiating toward their victim's open eyes and paralyzing them. The Glare is able to stop both human and creature, and after a few days, unique to other forms of basilisk, the paralyzed being transforms into a sea nettle.

First Encounter

That took a longer time than it should have ;^;

Another branch of The Twilight Circus, mainly kept secret, was the Chrysaora Basilisk branch. Chrysaoras were rare mythical creatures that were naturally aggressive. I owned a small breeding herd, occasionally I would head over to their mother ranch, where they were brought over from Lucent and adopted by the small community of the owners. This particular time I headed over, I had noticed some... restlessness around the place.
-Flashback-
Everyone was restless and the Chrysaoras kept there were anxious and even scared, they were very tense. I went over to the nearest stable hand and asked them the problem.
"S..Some of the b..ba..babies, the chr..s.soara f..f..foals have been stolen." She replied close to tears and very worried. My eyes widened. I knew why she was scared.
Chrysoara Basilisks were very protective over their young. A mother Chrysoara would perfome The Glare at people who got within a certain distance of bothering her. When my mares had their foals, I had put them out in the pasture before they birthed so I wouldn't have to deal with a restless mare. I didn't bother them for a few months or so, until they were ready to introduce their young.
I was gobsmacked. I didn't know how they could do this without killing the mother... I looked at the stable hand and she nodded at me as if she could read my thoughts.
"They killed their mothers..." I said flatly. She nodded again.
-Flashback over-
Less than three weeks later, I was e-mailed to say that the foals have been recovered but are in a poorly state. They needed a proper home to care for them and sharpish. Since I was a regular adopter, I would have been the first ones to be contacted. I headed over within twenty minutes of the e-mail. The stable hand that I had saw three weeks ago, greeted me.
"Hey, I was looking to take home one of the foals?" I asked her. She looked relieved and grateful.
"Thank you! They are over here!" I followed her to a large, warm and dark barn. It was very humid inside to keep the foals warm.
"We're working overtime to keep these babes alive, I'm glad people are coming to give them a home where they can have you full attention!" I nodded at her. "So, you want to see them?!" she added excitedly.
"Yeah, that would be great." She led me around a few stalls before I came to a dark one in the middle of the row.
"I don't see anything in here?" The stable hand gave me and grin and unlatched the door. She knelt down and put her hand out. A jet black colt stepped out of the shadows on weak legs.
"He's one of the older and stronger ones." She said without removing eye contact from the foal. He licked her hand tentatively. She turned to me and ushered me with a movement of her head to meet the colt. I knelt down beside her. He flicked his small black ears towards me and took some wobbly steps before nuzzling my shoulder. I patted his neck softly.
"He likes you," The stable hand said excitedly "You get on well with him. He seems to want to conjoin." I stroked the foal.
"I like him too," I replied. "So... how do you think about helping me load him." The stable hand grinned and thanked me. I straightened up and looked at the dark foal. His intelligent eyes scanned me curiously. He snuffled at my pockets for treats.
"I can't give you anything yet, boy." I shook the stable hand's hand as I turned to her and with a small and soft headcollar which I had brought we led him to my small trailer and loaded him up. He looked at it and sniffed it. I grinned at him.
"He's a very curious boy, isn't he?!" I said chuckling to the stable hand. She laughed with me.
"I guess that's his name, Curiosity..." I added.
Finally, the colt was loaded up and on his way to his new home.

Gaining Trust

I really have too much time on my hands ouo

It had been a few days since I had brought my colt home. Curiosity had lived up to his name. He loved exploring and getting up to mischief. He was the most sweet and friendly thing though! He was alright around human contact but he was still weary after what he had been through from such a young age. Curiosity had put on some weight and now he was energetic and definitely not the shy colt I had met a few weeks ago. He is very lively and loud and I loved him dearly. He was getting big already. In three weeks he was going to be, officially, an adult Chrysaora but he'd always be my little baby. I don't care if he had his own family. He was my responsibility now. I had never really taken on an orphan foal without a surrogate mother nearby. Curiosity was very spooky still and I had to gain his trust. I went down to my Chrysaora stables and saw a small dark muzzle poke over the tall door frame. I chuckled and slid open the latch to reveal the ebony colt.
"Hey boy." I said to him softly patting his neck, he flinched a little. I knew that was what I had to work on. I had brought a small grooming brush with me, a nice soft foal one which I had brought from my Tolter branch and started combing over his black coat. He snorted in pleasure and relaxed. A few minutes later he started to fall asleep. I patted him and then went to get him a headcollar. I picked out a fluffy galaxy coloured one. Perfect. I slipped it over his head and he nickered softly. I knew Chrysaoras could vocalize like an avian but Curiosity preferred normal horse sounds. He hadn't learned mimic yet. I smiled at the colt. He already stood at 14.2hh. I led Curiosity out of his stable and into an indoor arena. I had set some poles out and stuff for him to play with. I stroked his lean neck, avoiding the mane, if he got excited and I made contact with his mane or tail, it could be potentially fatal for me. I had noticed his horns had become more defined and they were a glossy obsidian colour like his mane and tail.
I suddenly ran away from Curiosity. He tilted his small black head towards me. His bright eyes were clouded with confusion. He wasn't sure why I ran away from him. He shot forward with his tail straight out towards me at a leggy canter. His long legs were flying everywhere and i chucked at his attempt. He skidded to a halt before me and placed his muzzle on my shoulder.
Don't do that again.
I could hardly believe it. He wasn't supposed to be able to use telepathy. Then I remembered he was born wild and had been taught that before he was untimely ripped from his herd. None of my other Chrysaoras could do that.
Wow. I thought placing my hand to my head. I then sprinted off again and this time Curiosity picked up on the game and followed me. After a while of me attempting a sprint and Curiosity attempting a canter, we were done in. Tired and sweaty, i led the colt out of the arena and put him in the outdoor. He licked my hand before trotting off to go and roll in the rubber and sand.

First Feeding

I've got to stop with these titles. They use more time than the freaking stories. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lately, I had been noticing that my baby Chrysaora Basilisk, Curiosity, had been getting his teeth which meant he could start having treats. Usually, I fed him using a bottle but now he was getting proper food. I had picked a soft mash for him to try. I used warm water from my kettle to soak it in. I picked up the steamy bucked holding the warm mash and took it down to the colt. Curiosity greeted me with a gentle whicker and I stroked him. Then I began my daily grooming session. I had put a cover over the bucket to keep the heat in whilst I groomed him. This session was longer so I could get him relaxed and calm for what was to be next. I made sure the mash was non heating and gentle, a light meal. After about twenty minutes of grooming and talking to him, I finally packed up the ebony colt's grooming kit which now consisted of a body brush, a hoofpick, a dandy brush and a soft rubber curry comb. Over the past few days I had been practicing his manners such as standing still, backing up, waiting patiently, coming when I called and picking up his feet. We had bonded quite well. I opened his stable door and picked up the lilac bucket with the red cover on from outside the stable where I left it and took of the red cover gently as to not startle the poor thing. His dainty ears flicked in confusion as he looked at the lilac and steamy bucket. He paced over to it and sniffed at it curiously as I placed it at his feet. I patted the colt and laughed at him. He tilted his head at me. I pushed the bucket towards him and he gingerly took a step towards it and pawed at the air above it. I shook my head at him. He picked that up as a negative movement and placed his cloven hoof down. He took another slow and steady step towards it and lowered his nose to sniff at the bucket. Once he had realised it was fine and it wasn't going to kill me or him, he dipped his nose inside it and took a slow inhale. He flicked his ears forwards at the scent and I could tell he enjoyed it. I stroked his forehead softly. He dropped his nose further in and stuck his tongue in. He grunted in pleasure and started to lick it. I laughed at him once again. He raised his head and looked at me and I shook my head again at him, this time he looked at me blankly. I sighed and picked a handful of the warm mash up. I raised it to his muzzle like I had done with his bottle and then he got on to what I was doing. Curiosity took a small bite out of the mash and chewed it gingerly. After a thoughtful chew on the mash, he decided he liked it. He quickly devoured what was in my hand and then, very soon afterwards the whole bucket. I grinned at the foal as he made grunts and snuffles throughout his first feeding.

Me and You, Setting In A Honeymoon

Postby guilttripping » Sun Jul 12, 2015 10:51 am

Conjoining

So, I picked this to be my extra. Has anyone actually written about an actual conjoinment yet? Eh. I will. : D

I've had Curiosity for about a year now. He has filled out well and the shy and weak foal I first met on that day at the Chrysaora Basilisk adoption centre is merely a shadow of him. He is very boisterous and playful and indeed strong and powerful. He mainly does what he wants because he can. It's funny because he feels bad afterwards. He gets up to all sorts of mischief still. Unfortunately, Curiosity has not found his forever mate yet. Yet.

Tonight was the night I was finally going to attempt a conjoinment with him. I picked a warm and clear night. We had a great bond and we were really close but I wanted to seal the deal and bind him to me. This could either go great or horribly wrong. I woke up with butterflies in my stomach and feeling lightheaded. I walked down to the barn and was greeted by my usual whinny of joy and a solid black head poking over the door. I smiled but soon my smile dropped after remembering what I was attempting. I put on Curiosity's new galaxy headcollar, it was the same but bigger. I led the Chrysaora stallion to the outdoor ring and took his headcollar off. Usually, I would leave it on but this time I didn't. He flicked his ears and tilted his head the way he does when he's confused. I looked at him blankly. I drove him away from me and he neighed in confusion. My head started to hurt as the confused stallion tried to telepathically engage me which I broke off completely. I didn't lose eye contact and he slowed to a halt and looked at me back. I walked up to him not showing any of my nerves and he finally clicked on. He knew this was risky and if I did something wrong I could ruin it for both of us. The pain in my head stopped completely as he stopped trying to get through to me. I felt so bad and my heart started to hurt as he stopped trying to communicate. His eyes looked painful as he watched me approach him. I relaxed my stance. I felt his breath on my face as I got close and it was hot and ragged and at a very fast pace. I bowed before him and looked down. This was the moment of truth. The scary part and the part that could easily go wrong. I closed my eyes and prayed to every Chrysaora 'god' models out there that this would go right. I held my breath. Then, suddenly, to my relief a light touch of a gentle horn ticked my shoulder. I raised my head and stood up slowly. Curiosity licked my face and I hugged him. I was so glad it worked. I stroked his neck and fed him some polos I had in my pocket. Now me and Curiosity were bound. I looked up at the bright starts above me and then his official name hit me like a truck. Twilight To The Stars
