It says in Tato's post though, that you may not apply to adopt yet. You can't adopt until the artist gives the okay.

We'd seen pictures of her before we had arrived to pick her up, however seeing her in person was a whole other experience.
She was a brilliant creature. Her fiery coat blazed nearly as bright as the cold flame in her bright eyes, and we knew she'd be a handful from the start. Watching her gallop around the pasture at full speed had us all in a trance, which was later broken by the comical sight of her messing around with a few yearlings from over the fence. Our mare was full grown, however it seemed she was still only a foal at heart, not unlike a majority of the horses at Cedar Adret. She would fit in just fine.
Getting her into the trailer proved difficult. She dodged all our attempts at herding her towards the trailer, and we were forced to set up a temporary fence. She threw an absolute fit when walking in there, and reared and stabbed at the sky with her hooves like she was a wild mustang out on the plains of Nevada. She was close to it though; it seemed like she spent the majority of her time outdoors and hadn't seen much of the inside of a stable. Another challenge. Another bridge we'd cross when we got there.
For now, it was time to take her to her new home.

After the long drive home we were all eager to get our little mare settled in. On the drive we'd decided on the name Rogue for her, and so far she was living up to that name quite well. Our grooms rushed to get feed and water into their respective troughs in the round pen before we released her into it. This round pen would give her the comfort of being outside along with getting used to the indoors, as it had a roof. Another problem that would hopefully be solved in the next few weeks.
We backed the trailer up to the gate and threw open the doors from behind the round pen fence, and she was off like a shot. Rogue quickly realized that this was not the pasture back at Bear Run, and quickly skidded to a stop at the other side of the pen. After her close call, she began to canter around the pen and whinny nervously at her new surroundings. Her bright eyes darted from side to side, drinking in the surrounding scenery, gradually seeming to accept her new home. It took her a few minutes, but she found the food and the water and began to eat and drink her fill. Now she knew she would be well cared for here.
We planned to surround her with our presence over the next few days, as she would have to learn to get used to us for the next few steps of our journey.

Now came the fun part.
Rogue had gotten used to us being around her and even became nosy about what we were up to. We'd even managed to get her close enough to us to pet her, and she really seemed to like to be scratched behind her ears. We got a halter for her, a nice cyan colored one. We'd left it hanging on the round pen fence for her to come over and investigate, and she had ran off with it on more than one occasion. But today was finally the day we would get the halter on her. No hesitation.
The majority of the time was spent chasing her around until she finally got bored and stopped running. Rogue wasn't aggressive towards us, just rather annoyed. She lifted her head straight up into the air so we couldn't get it on, and continued to dance just right out of our way.
And then one of our grooms walked in with a pocket full of sweets.
She'd forgotten entirely about us and any resent she had left in her and casually trotted over to the confused groom, who lifted a few sugar cubes out of her pocket. Quick thinking from one of the trainers allowed us to slip the halter right over her head as she reached out for the treat, and she didn't even seem to notice it was on there. She walked off, satisfied with her loot, and continued on doing her new favorite activity; splashing in the water trough.

After a while, we decided it was time to introduce Rogue to another member of Cedar Adret. Thinking of all the potential candidates we had, we decided that our stallion Goldenrod would work very well for this task. He was very well behaved around mares, and very social on top of it. His stall was unlatched, and he trotted out into the stable aisle, awaiting his commands. We directed him over to the round pen, where Rogue was already waiting for him to come over. The flaxen mare let out a shrill whinny in excitement. Goldenrod's ears perked up, and he nickered in reply and trotted over to the round pen fence.
After their introductions which involved sniffing each other for roughly 5 minutes, the two seemed to hit it off pretty well. They began playing over the top of the fence and chasing each other along it. Both seemed extremely happy to have met each other, and we realized Goldenrod would be a huge asset for us in the future of Rogue's training. Our friends at Manteca Creek had used the strategy as well in the training of their more unruly horses.
I arranged for Rogue to be moved to a larger pen, and for Goldenrod to reside there with her. He'd be the example of what she was to become.
