Hello everybody!
So it occurred to me recently that I've not posted any horses for the new Cottonwood thread yet, so I took some time out from writing up my field notebook for one of my degree modules to make a little something for the community. Besides, I have so many Latin names for species in my head right now this little boy made for the perfect break! XD
Anyway, for this painted fellow I'm going to be paying attention to your written personalities and histories. Like with artwork I know some people find writing difficult, so what I'm going to really be looking for is the content (it's up to you what you want to put in). Extras (for bonus points) are also allowed if you want to put any in, but I will be focusing on writing.
~
Quick sidenote: For my field trip I went to Andalusia, Spain and I was lucky enough to see a couple of Andalusian horses (complete with traditional rural Spanish tack and riders in traditional riding gear) being ridden around in a small town called El Rocio- be on the lookout for Andalusian adopts from me this summer!!!

Personality:
Before the accident, Compass was silent, strong, brave, and passionate. He never put up a fuss, and always carried out his duties with a strength and a passion that all could see. He was goal driven, brave enough to dive headstrong into nearly anything. His job was his life, and his family and friends respected that. After the accident, Compass just wasn't the same. People still believe he can become who he was before, but he needs so much work. he doesn't trust, he's needy, and he's extremely skittish. Underneath, he still wishes that he could go on one last adventure. But he's so scared and lonely, and he needs a friend who can help him become who he was before.
History:
Compass was bred in the mountains. He was bred to be a pack horse, with the hardiness of his Welsh Cob mother and stamina of his American Paint Horse father. He was a natural, brave enough to take on challenges but not so clouded by bravery to know what his limits were. He could plow through wind, rain, snow, anything if it meant reaching his goal. But one year the weather was bad, Compass and his owner knew they shouldn't have gone out. But they did, and consequences were irreversible. They were hunting, and the rain made the rocky slopes slippery. While they were climbing up a steep cliff, Compass's back hoof slipped. This caused his panniers to move and throw him off balance. He fell on his side, and couldn't get back up. He had many deep scratches on his legs and lower body. His owner managed to get him to safety, and the vet healed him as well as he could. The scars can not visually be seen, but he can never be used as a pack horse ever again due to the change in personality. After his owner heard this, he decided the best thing to do would be to send him to Cottonwood Horse Ranch, where he could start over. Now, he needs a home who can accept his needs and take care of him despite his quirks.
