Name: Mapiya

Gender: Mare
Age: 3 years old
Color: Sable Champagne
Gen: Brindle and Fog markings
Rarity: Uncommon
STORY:
Mapiya was born small - smaller than the other Tharkja - standing, she only came to about three-quarters of her mother's legs, and it was always a challenge for her to suckle. It would've been alright if she had been from a set of twins, which would have explained the difference in size, but no - she was the only foal that her mother had given birth to. As was their custom, the mare who had given birth to the foal would be able to name her, but the name was to be approved by the stallion that watched over them and guarded them. Nelli, Mapiya's mother, had a name that meant 'truth', because Nelli's mother had wanted her filly to always be truthful and honest, but only when it meant no harm would come to the heard. Due to that, Nelli wanted her daughter to have a meaningful name as well. It was hard to decide on a name for the foal because she was so small, and trying to give her a name that didn't suit her wasn't what Nelli wanted. For days she brooded, thinking of something, while her daughter was nicknamed 'Epona' for a while, just to give the herd something to call her.
The name came to Nelli on a clear night, when the herd was too restless to sleep because of how wonderful the stars looked. They had gathered at the edge of a lake, Nelli and her foal were standing close to the stallion of their herd - he was a strong-looking horse who had fought many battles, trying to defend them. He was also one of the horses closest to Mapiya because he never treated her differently, unlike the other foals who sometimes teased her for her small size. All was quiet for a while before Epona trotted to the front of her mother and declared proudly, "One day, I'm going to be tall enough to reach the sky!" And that was when Nelli realized the perfect name for her filly - a name that meant sky, to remind her of her promise.
The stallion, realizing Nelli's train of thought, flicked his ears towards her and waited for the mare to speak the name that would replace 'Epona'. "Mapiya," was the name Nelli murmured. It was an old name, one buried in tradition, but it was a strong name that meant exactly what it was supposed to - sky. Ahiga, the stallion, gave a nod of approval and stepped closer to the filly before breathing on her, as if giving her new life - a life with her using her new name, Mapiya.
The years passed, and Mapiya grew rapidly - because she was small, she was quicker than the other foals and could also run for longer. However, the foals had still not yet accepted her as one of their own. When they all turned a year old, they were called for by Ahiga to teach them the ways of the herd. He had left them in one of the forests so that they could get a feel for the place, but then something happened. One of them, a colt, had strayed from the well-trodden path that Ahiga had told them to stay on, and had walked right into 'quickmud' - it was like quicksand, but well, it was mud instead of sand. While the other yearlings were panicking, Mapiya had thought of a solution. Quickly, she told the others to grab one of the thick vines that were lying around, and to throw one of the ends to the colt while they held fast to the other end. She then said that she'd go run for help, and she didn't wait around any longer before bolting out of the forest.
It was thanks to the joint cooperation between her and the other yearlings that had saved the young colt that had fallen in. That was when they realized that she was also a Tharkja, no matter her size. Mapiya had a rather eventful second year of life, until she turned three - that was when she slowly started growing to her proper height - she was as tall as the other horses her age, which made her proud. But her mission wasn't finished yet. When Nelli was having a conversation with her daughter, Mapiya whinnied at the sky and said 'Just wait, I'm coming for you next."
Mapiya was never one to settle down - she would never stop reaching for her dreams, no matter how long it took. Simply because her dream was to reach the sky.
((ending was cut short because well.. too long. XD sorryyy))
