Short Story:
Ever since a young age, Erebus has always loved jumping. He's done it no matter the temperature, or the day, and each jump he cleared still lived in his memory. From the tiny cross rail he jumped alongside his mother to higher jumps he's worked on with trainers, they're all perfect, crystalized events he holds dear. And his owner? He loves her too, and she loves jumping as much as he does, even if that seems implausible. But unfortunately his owner is young, experienced, but still young. And you can only have so much experience when you're fifteen years old.
But another thing about his rider is that she's always been reckless to an extent, she's always pushed her limits and most of the time she can do things she thought she couldn't. Sometimes isn't good enough though. They were on a trail ride and it was the first nice day after a severe thunderstorm, which had knocked down many trees through the popular trail riding forest. Erebus was content to stick to the field and to just run with his owner, however his owned was feeling particularly daring today, and instead steered him towards the forest trail entrance, which was blocked by a fallen tree. Erebus was dubious, knowing that he could clear the jump fine, it wasn't all that large, but he wasn't so sure about his rider's ability. Turns out he had a right to be dubious in the end.
They headed towards the jump and when he kicked off the ground, he felt pressure lift from his back and heard a sickening thud of something falling off the side and smacking against the log before hitting the ground. Erebus completely the jump and swung his head around to see his beloved rider still on the other side of the log, obviously unconscious. It didn't take long for him to get into action, and knowing that jumping back across the log to get the farm would be risky in case his landing was off, he chose instead to head deeper into the forest. He didn't know if anyone was out here or not, but if they were? He would find them. It took him nearly thirty minutes to come across a secluded ranch house, and he led the man back to his owner. Turns out she wasn't severely injured, but the man did save her life.
Or maybe Erebus did, but he's always been humble.
