you stumble into the dark room, which is only occupied by a small table in the middle, which holds a candle. your breath is shaky and you hear footsteps as a young plumerian pads out of the darkness, not looking up. you know who this is - carmilla, the seemingly ageless and genderless assassin. everyone knows of them, yes. but the majority of people have no idea how to contact them or who they are. the wanted posters, void of any face, are stuck up practically everywhere. but no one has ever gotten even the slightest of glimpses. it was huge news to even get the first letter of their name. carmilla, while widely respected and awe at and idolized, can strike fear into thousands of minds just by being mentioned. born on halloween, it's said that they've been killing since the moment they popped into this world. abandoned by their parents due to being notably problematic, they were on the run for generally all of their life - that is, until colombe rose entered the scene.
she met carmilla in an old convenience store on a wintry night, carmilla buying knives and food rations; colombe buying cloth and string. the two glanced at each other as they stepped up yo pay, yet said nothing, until carmilla uttered a single statement. "honestly, i doubt that you're out this late just to get sewing materials." colombe turned to them, a slight sigh in her voice as she responded, "w-well... i was at the orphanage but the child i was interested had been ta-taken in already. b-but what's it to you?" carmilla contemplates it for a moment, clicking her tongue a few times and ending with a shrug. "dunno. only curious. you don't seem like the tough night-loving type," they grinned under their silver hood, "plus, it's basically blizzard ong out there. you've got a place to stay, you should be enjoying it." it took colombe a second to process what the smaller plumerian had said, and when it sank in she gasped audibly. "so y-y-you're saying that you're - ho-homeless?" carmilla nods and grabbed their knives and food, shoving the items in their small satchel. "wait but - you're so young! you need somewhere to stay safe... learn... be loved... grow up..." carmilla rolled their eyes and, looking up for the first time, said in an amused tone, "well, what exactly can you do about it?" a minute or two passed as colombe thought, her expression changing multiple times. carmilla began walking towards the door slowly, whistling an uplifting tune. she reached the door and had grabbed the handle, looking back, when suddenly colombe shouted to them. "i'll take you in!"

thus ends the story of carmilla - up until now. they are still an assassin, living off of stolen money, though colombe doesn't know. and don't feet, you'll see more of this babe soon. there's always more to a story... there definitely is to this one.
to be continued, in the future...
