I had just adopted Alexa, my third Nera. I loved her colors at first sight and knew she was in every way the perfect Nera. After winning her she was led into my trailer and I drove her to her new home. I drove her out to my field, where my gelding Tol was grazing on the grass. I had also recently won another Nera in the auctions, but she was in the stable getting her tack fitted, though I really wanted her to meet her new herd mate it would just have to wait. Tol looked at Alexa for a while, and she stared right back, calm as ever. I opened the door to the trailer and she trotted off to Tol who had walked up to the side of the trailer. They sniffed each others shoulders and after a while Tol walked away with Alexa following. "Good boy, give her the VIP tour!" I called jokingly to Tol as he rolled into his favorite spot of the pen, a ledge in the cliff halfway up. Alexa settled into a tree near the base of the cliff and watched as Tol dozed off. I walked away, wanting to stay and watch them forever, but knowing that I had lots of work to do to getting the barn ready for another Neravontii.

That evening I led Tol out of the field, Alexa following. I had noticed that she had been staying by Tol's side since she had arrived, and I was hoping they would grow even closer as Tol got used to her. He had always been slow to adjust to new Neras, and even though Alexa was no exception I was optimistic that he was treating her better than he normally would with any other Nera. As I closed the gate behind Alexa, she reached over to nip a treat out of my coat pocket, which I was going to use to lure her out if she hadn't followed Tol. "I suppose you were going to get it anyway girl" I said smiling. She flicked her ears happily as she munched down the last of it. She reached out and brushed my hand with hers, obviously looking for more. I smiled and reached out to her. She rubbed her head against my hand and I smiled. "First touch already sweety! Training you will be so much fun, and I know Tol will be a huge help!" I grinned and led the two down into the barn where I fed them both and gave them blankets for the night. "You two behave!" I gave both of them one last pat before walking away, excited about Alexa and I having our first touch already.
