Hey folks, here's the first Dino Adopt in our Prehistoric tour! She is based off of the Abrictosaurus.

This lovely little lady has wandered from her grazing herd to inspect the convoy that's approached the field. Erebus tells us she's quite the gluttonous little thing. Something that small shouldn't be able to put away as much food as she does! She's the only one in her herd to have brindles. To Adopt her, fill out the form below.

*Abrictosaurus ("wakeful lizard") is a genus of heterodontosaurid dinosaur from the Early Jurassic Period of what is now southern Africa.
*It was a small bipedal herbivore or omnivore, approximately 1.2 meters (4 feet) long, and weighing less than 45 kilograms.
*There were no teeth in the front of the jaws, where a hard beak was used to crop vegetation

Three Facts about Abrictosaurus:
- "Its teeth were developed to have more than one shape. This feature is not seen amongst the Triassic dinosaurs but is seen very commonly amongst the more evolved Jurassic dinosaurs."

-The fossils of the Abrictosaurus were excavated in the Upper Elliot Formation of southern Africa. Two sets of remains were discovered; one from Cape Province in South Africa and the other from Qacha's Nek in present day Lesotho.

-The Abrictosaurus had the ability to rip apart shrubs and bushes due to its canine like teeth. The position of the teeth at the base of the of the mandible indicated that it was an a primitive ornithischian.
