RVEC #47 - Grey Trakehner

Postby SydneyandStorm » Thu Jan 22, 2015 11:38 am

Yay I got the Oekaki working again! That wasn't too bad of a wait ^^ First non-black based grey... Not sure how I feel about how this turned out.

A bit about greys: Grey horses will be somewhat rarer than other horses, and there's a very good reason for that: greys grey out. As a grey horse ages, I will be going back regularly and continually lightening his or her color until he or she has become completely white. I don't feel like doing this to every single horse, so they won't be as common as other colors will be. If you don't like the way horses look when they grey, don't worry -- you'll rarely be in a position where they're the only ones available for adoption. Most horses will have greyed out by their teens, but some breeds and individuals will grey out much more quickly.

(I repeat: She is a grey. She will not retain her chestnut-y highlights forever.)

Passed away 12/28/15.

Age: 6 years
Height: 17h
Breed: Trakehner
Discipline: Dressage
Breeding fee: 1000c
Price: 1500c (unless your picking the price I had no clue what to put here)

Quirks: *All quirks are thing I've already seen in a horse*
-She "faints". After being all saddled up she gets a little wobbly in the knees. Of course its not a serious thing, she just doesn't want to work. (However once shes in the arena this goes away quick as a snap and shes ready to work)
-Playing the the water bucket. When the water gets low enough she likes to stick her head in the bucked and shake it around quiet fast. This results in water everywhere, and her being soaked and dizzy.
-All done! As soon sh she is done with her mash she picks up the bucket off its hook with her teeth, then slings it over the stall wall and looks very pleased when a unsuspecting passerby gets covered in molasses and oats, or gets the bejesus scared out of them. (hehehe experience you say? whattttt nooooo)

Gender: Mare
Age: 3 years
Height: 17.1hh
Breed: Trakehner
Discipline: Dressage
Breeding fee: 1000c
Price: 1500c
Quirks:
1~At Briar Hill, the stalls are completely enclosed, and so, the horses have no way of sticking any body part out of the stall. However, in between the top of the bars and the ceiling of the barn, there is a two-foot open gap, running all along the stalls to allow air flow. The stalls also have atuomatic waterers bolted into the front wall. If Auri REALLY wants out, she will put one hoof into the waterer for balance and half-rear, half-stand in the waterer and stick her head out into the isle using this gap.
2~Auri loves to be ridden, but she doesn't like to be over-ridden or under-ridden, and she will let you know if she thinks you're doing either. She also likes to get her way when in the ring, and will protest if she doesn't. And here's how; Auri will attempt to get her way three times before she starts to show her frustration. First, she will toss her head about. Then, she kicks out, which just feels like tiny bucks. Then... She sits. Yes, she sits. Much like a dog. And she will not stand until you get off.
3~Last, but certainly not least, this pretty mare enjoys her paddock time maybe a little too much. At Briar Hill, outside each paddock, attached to the fence, is a hook to keep whichever horses' halters who are in the paddock at that time hung up on. Auri will wait for you to leave, give it about five minutes, then carefully reach through the fence, gently tug at the halter until it falls free from the hook, then dance off with it, to the far corner of her paddock. You see, at this corner, a horrible nettle patch resides, and Auri has learned, if she throws her halters here, it buys her more paddock time. We have lost many halters this way...

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.

Call name: Dahlia
Gender: Mare
Age: 3
Height: 16.1hh
Breed: Trakehner
Discipline: Three Day Eventing
Breeding fee: 3,000c
Price: 1,500c
Quirks: Dahlia absolutely loves cameras, she is fascinated by them, this doesnt mean she poses for them. Oh no, she likes to take the lense in her mouth and test it with her tongue. This opens up some pretty interesting shots of this inside of her mouth, and if you're really lucky a bit of mashed up feed with fall out from behind her teeth and onto the glass.

If it wasn't already clear, Dahlia is a bit of a mouthy horse. She likes to chomp on the bit, chew on riding crops, and occasionally crib (we're working hard to break that habit). Another one of her favorite chew toys are the the neatly braided manes of her companions. Maybe it's something about the way the shampoo smells (Apple scented is her favorite) or the way the rubber bands taste, but if you don't tie her good you may have to cut off your geldings tightly bound mane, because half of it is missing.

Like most horses Dahlia has plenty of companions, but by far her favorite is the swan that resides on the lake. She enjoys hacking around the water's edge, where she can eye the large white bird as he glides through the water gracefully. But this companionship is not all that it seems, the swan absolutely despises Dahlia. When nearby he honks and flaps his wings at her. He chases her angrily when she gets too close, but the sweet mare that Dahlia is she keeps going back to him with a friendly nicker.

Interestingly enough, my girl Vesperae is also a none black based grey (techniqually anyway). Rose greys are usually a bay or red carrier grey. This ones a chestnut grey if I'm correct?? Love genetics ❤

Quirks:
This made has a few strange quirks which make her unique.
The first one- When she's been left in her stable for too long, she will stand at the door and nod her head while making a small squealing noice and clapping her lips together.

The second one- When she's tied up she will keep trying to tap her shoes on something, the metal stable door, the pavement or the wall, well, I guess she just likes the sound of her hoofs!

The Third and last one - When being ridden, she likes to be in charge, (this is sort of based on my horse) when she sees a car coming down the road she thinks that looks scary or she just dosent like, she will just stop, and won't move until it passes, then when it has passed she will just carry on walking.

Call name: Silver
Gender: Mare
Age: 14 years
Height: 14.2 HH
Breed: Trakehner
Discipline: western pleasure
Breeding fee: n/a
Price: 1,500c
Quirks:
1. Silver is funny in many ways. She loves it when you come to visit her but before you get to touch her, she will examine all your pockets and hands just to make sure she didn't miss anything. No matter where you hide treats she WILL find them. One time her stall was i latched and she managed to find her way to the tack room and ate all of the treats!!
2. Whenever silver is around another horse she with do a small jump. This is very normal as she jumps her tail does this cute flicking motion towards the other horse. The other horses don't seem to mind but silver loves it!!
3. Finally Silver is a fashion maniac!! If she doesn't like what you're wearing she will either sneeze on you, nibble your shirt, lick your ear. It's really random when she does it so you better hope you look good in the arena >.<
