First Ride
With a little scolding, and then some convincing, I got Daya to stand up. She stood there like a stone at first, and then a squirrel across the yard caught her eye. She curiously bounded over, and at that moment she appeared to have forgotten the saddle was there in the first place. I smiled, and then carefully eased over to her and slipped on her back while she was sniffing a dandelion. Her head shot up and she turned to sniff me, and then, with a carefully placed tongue, proceeded to lick my knee until it was soaking wet. It took a couple times to pull her away from my knee, and once I succeeded, she turned and began to lick my other knee. So once we finally got moving around the pen, I had two wet knees and one happy Neravontti. Daya did quite well, only one slight mishap with the bridle, and she seemed constantly concerned about my well being and what I wanted her to do. I sure landed this one, I thought, as I hugged her neck. I got a wet "kiss" in return.
