"Tzevi! Get over here! " the words echoed through the small grotto. Sylvi's ears perked up at the noise, yet he was immediately disappointed upon hearing the nickname. Slvyanus Vicente was a long name, even if it was "a strong name for a strong male," as his Grandmother, Mams, told him. It was funny, as she had soon gotten confused by it all, and had given the nickname Tzevi, little deer, to him. It had stuck like a briar in matted fur, and all the others would call him Tzevi, as it was far easier pronounced than Sylvanus Vicente.

Really his grandmother had been a key role model in Tsevi's upbringing, showing him many of the things that his parents were unable to teach him.For She didn't have a sensory tuft, and had only her mane to make her one with the world. His parents taught him how to find food, defend himself, and other practical skills. Grandma Mams, however, taught him how to feel without a sensory tuft, how to take in his surroundings and not only sense them, but become immersed in them, to not just dully feel the world in the way you'd feel a sore muscle, but how to use fine arts such as dancing, singing, and poetry, to understand and interpret. Mams helped him to compensate for lack of a sensory tuft on his tail.

Keep in mind, Tournellians are without sensory tufts until they reach adulthood, until a point where their senses heighten, one Sylvanus's parents described to him as being enlightened.An enlightening that was taking too long for the young tourney.All of his former playmates had started growing them, and leaving their parents to find their own adventure.Growing the tuft was considered a sort of Maturing rite, and after growing it, the Tournellian would seek out his own life apart from his parents. Unfortunately, Syl didn't get to leave his parents for a long while. Even Mams left before he did. She left because she believed herself to be a burden, and wanted to pass on on her own terms. After she left, Syl was having an even harder time keeping it together. All of his friends had left, he was growing older and still lacking a tail tuft, and his Mams had left him to go die.It was thoughts like these that drove him into depression, which let itself out through fits of unquenchable rage, once bubbling up so much that without thinking twice or looking back, he ran away from his family, away from anything, trying to get away from himself.

He ran and ran, never slowing or stopping.Without his sensory tuft, he was succeptable to obstacles, and found himself tripping over things, gradually escalating until he tripped over a tree root, rolled through a thicket, and fell down a small hill, landing in a pile at the bottom. He laid there, solemnly, body so sore from all of his bumps in the road, he could only whimper, eventually turning into a cry. He lay almost dormant, spare his nervous breathing and gentle crying. He lay there until he felt a paw on his shoulder. He looked up at the Tournellian, eyes widening in shock.

Older and grayer than when she had left, standing before him was Maryse, commonly known as Mams. His grandmother gently stroked his cheek with her paw, before leaning down to him, and whispering:
" Tzevi, remember that feeling doesn't come from your tail, it comes from how you breathe it in, see it, hear it, and let it rumble through your soul.Don't forget that. "

And with that, she left, and Sylvanus Vicente, Tzevi, set off on his own path.
