Favorite Scary Story and WHY? My favorite scary story would have to be The Elf House (I think it's called that, been a while since I last read it). It's in the book Ghost Dogs of The South which is the best book along with Ghost Cats of the South, of so many ghost stories of passing pets and their owners. I absolutely loved each one but the Elf House stuck close to me. I've loved it because this man just takes in a dog, a Border Collie, when he moved into a town down in the Southern US, North Carolina area I think, but the pup gets attacked by wild dogs as they attacked his children which were ducklings that he raised, making this dog on the verge of death. He ended up having a split tongue, earning the ability to talk, whistle, and still bark. The talking dog drove his owner insane when he tried to write for his novels. I think the man died or ended up having to move after his talking dog ended up dying and his ghost haunted his home, always whistling and yelling out 'stop', the collie's favorite word. One day this young boy was dared to go to the Elf House, where the collie still haunted. The boy was chased by the invisible force. The dog chased him up a tree and his ghost, still invisible, just kept yelling and barking 'stop' and asking questions. It was a very heart warming story yet scary at the same time. I've always liked it for that reason. It's just nice to actually read or hear a scary story that actually has meaning and an animal that actually almost gave up his life to save his ducklings. I wasn't spooked out by the story as it sounded really interesting to actually to read. Another one I really enjoyed from Ghost Cats of The South was The Wampoo Cat, very interesting and scary story as well but I'll save that one for another time. c:
