Spirit's favorite animal is the wolf because the wolf offers some of the most striking animal meanings in the realm of spirit animals. The power of the wolf brings forth instinct, intelligence, appetite for freedom, and awareness of the importance of social connections. This animal can also symbolize fear of being threatened and lack of trust.
Story:
Spirit was born wild like many other Tharkja. She had a spirit like none other, and was practically fearless! She would run across the open plains as if she was a spirit. From then on, people have been calling her Wild Spirit. When she was caught, she showed them just how fearless she was by tricking them. She tricked them so they thought she would follow them, but she followed so close that the rope got loose and she got free again. Another one of the riders saw this and lassoed her before she could get away, but her stallion charged over and knocked him off of his horse. The rope was tied to the saddle horn which made it hard to even get the rope loose.. Spirit fought back the rest of the way, so it wasn't easy to get her back to the ranch, especially when her stallion was trying to help her for half of the way as he didn't want to lose his other mares. He had given up because he had seen how impossible it was to even try to free this mare from these humans. When she was at the ranch, they released her into a round-pen, so they could break her and train her. She wouldn't give in though. They lassoed her, tie her up and force a saddle on her. One of them jumped on her back, just to get thrown off. Another rider hopped on and didn't get thrown. Spirit tried to throw this one off, but he stayed on. She was getting tired, so she skidded to a stop. The rider fell off of her back, scaring Spirit. She cantered to the other side of the round pen, away from the humans. They lassoed her again, and untacked her, then left. After a week or two of this, a young girl and her mother came, looking to buy a horse, but the girls parents thought the girl might want to learn how to ride before getting a horse so they signed her up for lessons. The girl always went by Spirit's pen and watched her, occasionally trying to pet the mare. The people had given up on trying to break her by the time she finished learning how to ride and she decided she wanted that beautiful mare. She asked her parents and they bought her. After a few days of trying to get near the mare, the girl finally got the halter on her and got her used to it. Spirit had the halter o for a few days, just to get used to it. She reared, tossing her head, and trying t get it off. The girl basic trained the mare after a few months of owning her, just not started under saddle. They kept her at the same ranch for a while, until they could get her into the trailer and transport her to their barn. Soon, they got tired of trying to train her, so they sent her to a professional. Spirit was calm in the trailer, but a little scared of being at the new place. She got placed in a stall and they left her to settle down. The next day, her training started. The trainer started with lunging, then saddle, and after that bridle. Spirit learned the cues and commands before she was sent back to her owners. The girl started riding her and joined a riding team. They didn't win many ribbons, but they still had a lot of fun.
