There once was a village in south america given life from a water hole, or natural pool
that was to said to be blessed by an angel. In legend, the pool of water was protected
by the village's guardian, an archangel by the name of Nyx....

There was a man in the village who was a widower, and he had a baby girl and from the time she was born, she had been sickly and frail.
He had named her after the protector, in hopes it would help her give her life. but even then Nixie was quiet
and still.
She seemed to always be resting and the child's fur was a dull blue.
Her feathers were born a transparent gray with no markings and at only a few months old,
Nixie was on the brink of death, and her father, in worry that he would loose her like he did her mother,
became desperate and brought her to the purified pool. Praying to Nyx for her to save his daughter. Nobody was allowed to touch the sacred pool except for royalty, and the shrine maidens. She he did this past midnight in hopes that nobody would catch him doing so.
He submerged Nixie into the water. As if she had answered his prayer, Nixie's fur became a much brighter
color of blue and her gray feathers began to glow a beautiful angelic white glow.
And all at once she opened her eyes and let out a cry.

Nobody asked why the child was suddenly glowing, and when they did, Nix's father denied everything.


Growing up Nixie was often looked to as a wonder to other plumes in the village.
Some plumes didn't know what to think of her feathers glowing brightly or the glowing
myst that seemed to be marked under her eyes and around her paws.
Nix didn't think much of it, as a child she was very mild mannered and loved to socialize
with the other children. Some of the children, though, thought her to be a bit weird because of her 'difference'.
But her father had always reminded her that she was different in a beautiful and special way.
Nix volunteered at the shrine built around the purified pool to help,
wanting to be close to Nyx who she is convinced is her guardian angel.
She would work there as a child shrine maiden until she turned 12 years,
where she found that her studies took too much of her time to be able to do that anymore...

Today at the age of 16, Nixie is proud that shes different.
She adores her beautiful feathers and the trailing glow that wraps around her paws.
And often or nothing, thanks the angel every day for saving for life.
She's friendly around all the other villagers and is a big socialite. She's kind and generous,
and loves meeting new people. She is known, behind closed doors however to be more free spirited and rebellious.
Nix often or not disagrees with the clans morals and politics. She wishes to move somewhere more populated and
advanced technological wise and to be away from village life in south america.
She enjoys reading and the arts and wishes to one day be employed in the arts herself.
But now, however, she is schooled in the ways of village life such as other plumes before her.



A recollection by Nixie:

Going out into the woods to visit the watering hole...its my favorite pass time. I heard stories told about the pool, then there were stories told about what the pool did to save my own life that fateful day. My father told everyone that I had gotten better on my own, and most believed him. Other doubted, claiming he drenched me in the guardians pool. Few look down on me sometimes, hushing under their breath that my survival was just a stroke of 'Luck'. But to me....I thank the guardian everyday...because I believe
She saved my life...
I may not agree with things my father has done, or I may want to leave one day, but I always thank Nyx for giving me a blessing. To live life in this world...
Nyx, were you my guardian angel that day? will you continue to be a guardian?
I don't care that your healing changed my tone, whether the reason why I'm glowing or not...
All I know is that I will always thank you, and ask you for guidance. Because even though you may not answer...
I know you will always listen
