Fleabitten Grey and a rare breed! This lovely boy is a young Karabakh, as far as I know the first one ever at Cottonwood! I might be wrong though...

Also called Karabakhskaya, the Karabakh horse is an ancient saddle breed that was developed in Nagorny Karabakh in Azerbaijan.
Coming from an area well known for producing good horses, the breed was created by crossing native Azerbaijan animals with Turkmenian, Perisan & Arabian blood (although the Arabian is perhaps the most evident physically).

The Karabakh breed has been bred & raised in the mountains for a long time and the region has shaped them in many ways. The breed was instrumental in formation of the Don breed . Unfortunately an invasion by Iran destroyed many of the stud farms & others were forced to flee which took a toll on breed numbers.

Today very few purebred animals remain. Although several breeding programs have been established to preserve their bloodlines, unfortunately none of them have been wildly successful.

Height ranges from 14.1 - 14.3 (not many options).

They are used as a riding horse or in some cases used to improve other breeds.

Personality: Secret is a very quiet and docile boy. He would happily spend his days roaming a large paddock and grazing. He does need a little run every day though, on he will canter along the fence a couple times a day. The humans can see though as Secret runs, he is sad. He looks out over the fence and calls with his wonderful whinny. Searching for another horse, he has been out with many other geldings of other breeds. It is almost like he knows he is different, that he has no one like him. He has also started to long for a mare, someone he could love. To spend his days frolicking beside. Other than that Secret is a very happy boy, if only he could find another. For the grooms/riders he is lovely, one can simply tap the rein and he would softly turn that way. He is admired by many for his lovely temper and movement, he is very modest though.

He seems to carry a great wisdom about him and other horses respect him and often come to him when seeking comfort or help. When you look into his eyes you can see that the years have taken their toll on him but you can also see the youth that still flickers inside. Due to his old age he doesn't compete anymore but is a ambassador to his breed. He has moments where he seems old and slow and very very grumpy but he also has moments where he has unreal energy and plays just like a little kid.

Personality: Monte is a goofy, trouble making, leader of the herd. He is quite the show off, and dominant towards the other stallions. He never really has gone after them, but definitely makes it a point that he's in charge. He is quite the show off too. He gets very upset when he is not groomed and cleaned on a organized schedule. When he is not busy bossing the other stallions around, he can be quite goofy and trouble making. He likes to steal any loose items on you if they get into reach. Jewelry, hats, scarves, just about anything. He acts all smug and pleased, teasing you with your property in his mouth. He is a trouble maker too. Always trying to brake his stall door, until after about half an hour of kicking he realizes that he just can't knock it over, and settles for his oats. Every night, the same routine. His discipline is dressage and often participates in trail riding, both suitable for his rare breed. He listens and is not to hard to train, but on occasion, he is definitely not easy to ride, or train. He likes to do things his way, especially because he is a dominant stallion. He wants to train, just not the way we need him to. Even though he can be a pain in the neck, we love him.
